The West Country region
This far west is blessed with one of the mildest climates in the country. The first spring daffodils are picked on the Isles of Scilly each year. Here we are also steeped in history, from shipwrecks and sunken treasure to ancient monuments and amazing historic buildings! Lands End is a stone's throw away with its rugged cliffs and tales of mystery of the lost 'Land of Lyonnesse' buried under the waves. The sea is all around with coves and cliffs at every turn.
Penzance is a busy market town in its own right, but not far away you have the city of Truro and the sailing capital Falmouth, each have main high street shops to cater for your shopping needs. Fabulous beaches are everywhere including Sennen, Praa Sands, Marazion and St Ives which is an magnet for artists as the home of the Tate Gallery, as is Newlyn with Newlyn School of Art. The Eden Project is 3/4 hour drive away and is a must.
We have lots of Interesting National Trust properties including the famous St Michael's Mount (described as the jewel in Cornwall's crown) and Lanhydrock House. Penzance also has its own Golowan festival 'Mazey Day' at the end of June. You can take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly on 'The Scillonian'. The terminal and ticket office is just 300 metres away.
