House | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2

It's hard to believe but when this property was built, George III ruled England and Admiral Nelson had just defeated the Spanish fleet at Trafalgar! Middlemarch is a superb example of Georgian architecture and is located in Chapel Street which is the oldest and most famous district of this historical maritime port which lies on the very western tip of Britain. Today, the house is designed to cope with the demands of the modern traveller, however due to its historical legacy and quirky characteristics such as narrow staircases, uneven floors and the eclectic mix of modern and antique furniture, it really does exude a wonderful sense of history dating back nearly 200 years. Whilst sitting in one of the pretty little window seats overlooking Penzance Harbour, it is not difficult to be drawn back to a bygone era with visions of four masted navel warships at anchor in the bay or even hearing the sound of the revenue men in the dead of night as they clatter up and down the cobbled streets on horseback in pursuit of smugglers and French contraband!

The regional hub of Penzance continues to grow in size and structure and is gaining an enviable reputation in gastronomique circles particularly as it has more restaurants and bars per capita than New York! Whilst St.Ives bathes in the contemporary art light, Penzance is fast becoming known for its fine art scene and many of the galleries are located in the Chapel Street area. Middlemarch is the perfect little hideaway for a couple who wish to explore this ancient port and the surrounding peninsula whatever the season, so book early and enjoy!

Entrance to front door via several original granite stone steps. Lobby leading to pretty dining room with original fireplace and window seat overlooking Chapel St and St. Mary's Church. Kitchen with wonderful views of the harbour as you cook! Fully fitted units, electric oven and hob, integral fridge with ice box and microwave.
