The West Country region
Cornwall forms the westernmost part of the south-west peninsula of the island of Great Britain. The peninsula is bordered to the north and west by the Celtic Sea, to the south by the English Channel, and to the east by the county of Devon, over the River Tamar. Cornwall has become a very popular holiday destination for its scenic landscapes, fantastic beaches, charming villages, great food and laid back way of life.
Popular activities include surfing, walking the coast paths, dining out, cycling, windsurfing, kayaking, fishing and golf.
Mousehole is a small picturesque fishing village between Penzance and Lands End. It was once a bustling port and today it still retains much of its charm. Mousehole's narrow streets are now filled with small galleries, shops and restaurants that huddle around the inner edge of the harbour. There is a small sheltered beach in Mousehole Harbour or travel around to the beautiful Lamorna Cove. Within a short drive you can also go to Porthcurno beach, Porthchapel, Sennen, Pednvounder beach, Marazion or you can drive across to some of the St Ives beaches.
Penzance is an ancient market town which has kept much of its character and originality. It is now filled with shops, supermarkets, banks, restaurants and bars that focus around the quay and the stunning coastline with views of St Michaels Mount.
