The West Country region

The far west of Cornwall is a mystical and beautiful place of Celtic legend and modern day surfers and other lovers of the great outdoors. It's a haven for climbers, cyclists, bird watchers and those wanting to get away from it all for a while.

With the great artists' colonies of St Ives and Newlyn there are galleries a plenty, and the famous Minack Theatre on our doorstep keeps the cultural interest high.

The town of Penzance is at the end of the train line, and only 9 miles from Land's End.

Summer offers a variety of cultural events, local festivals and the Minack Theatre, while winter is quiet and truly magical.

This is an area of great natural beauty with stunning cliffs, beaches and coast, as well as good restaurants and pubs.. though the anglers among you may just want to catch your own supper.

"a gem in the Cornish country side"

This cottage was perfect. It was clear the love and attention that Kelvin and Amanda have put into the barn conversion. The attention to detail from the lovely kitchen to the wonderful bed in the loft… More

"Forge - a pleasure when the weather forces you to stay in !"

Staying at Tregiffian and in particular Forge is a refreshingly unique
> experience. Five star accommodation without any ostentation or pretence.
> Forge makes you feel instantly at home, though to be honest it is probably
> the home you aspire to rather than the home you have; clever and subtle
> touches such as skirting lights that come on when you enter the bathroom to
> prevent the need for bumbling around for a light switch. I cannot pick out
> my favourite thing about Forge but would suggest Winter visitors, (my
> personal favourite time for Cornwall) turn the under-floor heating down and
> light the wood burner. The start of our break in November saw howling winds
> and rain and it was the perfect excuse to stay in and enjoy Forge's open
> plan yet cosy living. The rest of the week we sought out local coastal
> paths ,(barely seeing another soul) and explored the many art galleries in
> the area; we did not make it further than Penzance the whole week. Another
> visit planned...Myn-Tea next time.

"A Cornish Gem"

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week stay at New Forge. It is a stunning cottage and felt like home from home - although I need the decorating tips ;-) It was so peaceful there, and on a still day, all you can hear outside are the cows munching the grass. It was just perfect! We will certainly be back again in the future. Thank you Kelvin and Amanda!

"Fantastic cottage beautifully done in a great location"

We had a great holiday at New Forge Cottage. The first impression is definitely a "wow"!
The location is perfect especially if you enjoy walks, the beach is about a 10 minute walk away. When we stayed it wasn't too busy on the beach but if it had been then Tregiffian would have been the perfect escape from the crowds.
Really well equipped and all the basic (and a bit more!) foodstuffs etc were there. Instructions for everything were great, beds were comfy, plenty of room for all 5 of us (plus 2 dogs).
Our 3 boys loved the holiday very much. I thoroughly recommend it!

"A wonderful retreat!"

We went for a long weekend to New Forge cottage last month with family and I cannot recommend it enough! After a long journey down to Cornwall, we were all a little tired, but on arriving at New Forge, we were so impressed by how incredibly beautiful the cottage and surroundings were. The artistic design and attention to detail is incredible. The beautiful art, Pantone mugs and the pink Smeg fridge were my personal favourites! On the first night we sat on the big comfy sofas with a bottle of wine reading and playing board games. It was incredibly relaxing! We tended to go out and about in the day, exploring the beautiful surrounding areas of Sennen and St Ives, but in the evenings it was lovely to indulge in all the wonderful books that were available to read. The cottage also had a TV, a DVD player and WIFI so we were all happily entertained! The cottage really is a secret gem, features such as under-floor heating and a wood burning stove really made for an incredible stay. I would recommend New Forge to couples and families as well as a great setting for writing holidays. We would all love to return to the cottage.

"Stunning cottage with superb views"

We went in mid March with fairly unpredictable weather forecast for our stay. Luckily the weather was not too bad however we had not to be worried as this cottage is so spacious it wont matter if you have to spend time inside. We have been to some cottages where one bedroom is much bigger and better than the other. This is not really the case here as although one is slightly smaller they are bother large and furnished very well.
In terms of entertainment for after we had come back each day there is was a DVD player, large TV, Wi-Fi, CD player and most importantly large comfy sofas! As for the kitchen; well we didn't use it too much as the cottage is within a few miles of some lovely places to eat however i can say it is very modern and of a decent size.
Overall this in a lovely quiet location to go away and take your mind of the world.

"Simply the best"

New forge MMX is a most beautiful property. We took a risk going so far out of season expecting that we could be cold and miserable in Cornwall but it was one of the nicest breaks / retreats you could… More
