Being Cornish we didn't have far to come to stay at "The Old Vic". The occasion was to celebrate our Ruby Anniversary with ALL the family - my son, his wife and their 2 children aged 7 and 4 and my daughter and her husband and their 2 children aged 3 and 6 months. We chose this superb building as it contained all the accommodation we required and it was in a beautiful part of Cornwall which we know well. The owner , Mrs Bretz has thought of everything an extended or smaller family might desire and the information supplied would enable anyone from anywhere to enjoy the real delights of the County of Cornwall. We were perfectly happy with our venue and the accommodation and would recommend Old Vic to anyone who would like to experience the best that Cornwall can offer. All the rooms were comfortable including a splendid conservatory overlooking the coastline. Very enjoyable walks abound in this area and Lands End is a short distance away. The property is also close to one of the best beaches in Cornwall and within the area there is much to see and discover. We enjoyed the feeling of being "locked " into a time capsule away from the madding crowd. We could see our favourite Isles of Scilly from a number of bedrooms.Cape Cornwall was clearly visible as was the Longships lighthouse off Lands End. Simply superb! |

The Old Vic is an impressive old house with lovely sea views. The house is cleaned between guests and maintained in amazing condition, a great feat considering the scale of the house! It is a lovely holiday home, grand but cosy, modern yet traditional. The owner and staff have thought of everything to make the guests' stay comfortable and every convenience is provided from a high chair to tumble dryer, baby changing mat to kitchen scales, BBQ to hairdryer.. All the rooms were gorgeous and there was enough room to accommodate our large extended family comfortably with space to have time to ourselves if we needed it. A cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch and made us feel so welcome. The customer service we received was excellent. The owner was more than helpful and she was quick to answer any queries we had in the lead up to the holiday, even when she was on holiday herself. The housekeeper gave us a courtesy call to let us know that an electrician would be visiting to fix a light, she also checked that everything was in order and we were happy. The gardener was friendly but hard-working and does a sterling job of the grounds. The location is lovely. The adults enjoyed waking up to sea views and the toddlers enjoyed seeing cows right outside their windows! The beach is only a few minutes walk away (directions are given in the information pack) and there are some good tourist attractions within an hour's drive. There are a few amenities just down the road including a Costcutter, which provides the essentials. Thank you Sarah for letting us stay at your fantastic holiday home. The only thing we didn't like was leaving (the toddlers took a bit of convincing/bribery to part with the wooden toy train set)! |
