Newlyn is a very old fishing village overlooking Mounts' Bay in West Cornwall with the lively historical town of Penzance 1 mile away. The sea is always close by offering beautiful coastal walks to neighbouring villages. A short drive will take you to other pretty towns such as Truro with its beautiful cathedral or Falmouth where you could take a boat trip & see the wonderful scenery of the Roseland Peninsula.
There are several sandy beaches nearby where the children can play or swim. Penzance also has 2 swimming pools. The many towns and villages of this part of Cornwall all offer many cafes, bars, teashops & restaurants offering good local produce at very reasonable prices.
The Penzance / Newlyn area

Newlyn also has several pubs & restaurants catering for all tastes as well as a chinese take away.
There is something for everyone to do in this part of Cornwall - sandy beaches, coastal walks, quiet secluded coves. There is a theme park called Flambards near Helston about 15 miles away which will easily keep the children amused for a day as well as several National Trust houses & gardens to see.

From Penzance it is but a short drive or bus ride to the village of Marazion where there is a beautiful sandy beach. From here you can visit St Michaels Mount, a historic island now owned by the St. Levan family. The mount is accessible on foot at low tide or by boat at high tide. There is a castle at the top which is open to the public and gives a wonderful insight into its history.
The Eden Project near St. Austell,is well worth a visit with its tropical biomes. Eden is about 30 miles away & there is a train / bus service regularly from Penzance.
About 12 miles from Penzance is the world famous Minack Theatre. Set into the cliff face with beautiful scenery all around, this is a fabulous place to visit. Whether to see a production or just to have a look round & a cup of coffee and marvel at its outstanding beauty. Buses run regularly from Penzance to the Minack & back.

Ideally located for all south west cornwall, nice welcome with flowers and biccys, clean and fully equipped, didn't need to buy anything, excellent view of St Michaels mount. It was nice to get up in a morning and walk down onto the beach, the kids had a great time on the cobbles. It was only a fifteen minute walk into Penzance which we did once or twice. The only thing not suitable if you have small toddlers was the steps outside in the garden area but this is staed in the advertisement ..I would definitely recommend, the kids didn't want to return home and said it was the best ever. |
