Our luxury Ullswater studio suite on this wonderful estate was architect-designed for maximum comfort and luxury and is fully furnished with self catering facilities including linen, towels, fully fitted kitchen and appliances. The studio can sleep four (with a sofabed) but we feel that this is best for couples.
Whitbarrow Village is set in the picturesque foothills of Blencathra Fell, located just file miles from Ullswater in the Lake District.
The studio suite offers teletext TV, DVD players and DVD library, double glazing and heating. The facilities include a restaurant and bar where breakfast, lunch and dinner are available, a fully equipped leisure club including a heated swimming pool with spa bath, sauna, steam room, squash, pool table, fully equipped gym and table tennis. There is an18 hole crazy golf, course, 9 hole putting green, giant draughts/chess board, children’s adventure play area and mini football area.
From the most energetic hiker, climber, cyclist, golfer or watersport enthusiast to those who prefer to meander gently by car or boat – visitors find that each lake and tarn has its own individual character. So that whatever time of year you visit and however long you stay, you can be sure of some wonderful new experience every day.

The Cumbria/Lake District
Whitbarrow Village shelters at the foot of Blencathra Fell. The surrounding mountains offer a rich choice of views, walks and destinations such as Wordsworth’s and Beatrix Potter’s homes.
Ullswater is the second largest of the Lakes, and has its own unique character. Although very popular with visitors, it retains an easy-going and unspoilt quality. The area has some special historic attractions including a mysterious stone circle, The Cockpit, and two medieval castles within a few miles, Greystoke and Dacre. On the water you’ll see all manner of craft from steam cruisers to windsurfers.

Ullswater’s Glencoyne Bay was very likely to have been the inspiration for Wordsworth’s famous poem ‘The Daffodils’ (10 minutes) Bassenthwaite four miles long, home to a rare species of fish and a sailing club (20 minutes) Derwent Water three miles long, with four islands, a marina and overlooked by Skiddaw (20 minutes) Windermere the largest lake, so popular for sailing that it now has a 10mph speed limit. How to get there
Whitbarrow enjoys one of the most picturesque locations in England's glorious Lake District, yet is conveniently situated just 15 minutes' drive from Junction 40 of the M6 motorway.
This charming resort is set in the picturesque foothills of Blencathra Fell, located just file miles from Ullswater in the Lake District, just 90 minutes from Newcastle and within 2.5 hours of major cities such as Leeds and Manchester.
By car, leave the M6 motorway at junction 40. Take the A66 towards Keswick for 7 miles. Look for the Sportsman’s Inn on the right. Turn right into the road signposted Whitbarrow and Hutton Roof. The lane takes you to the rear of the Sportsman’s Inn and then you will see a left hand turn signposted Whitbarrow Village. Go past the caravan park and turn right, then you will see the entrance to the resort on your right hand side.

Whitbarrow Village was once Whitbarrow Hall, a typically Cumbrian farmhouse built in the 18th century. The conversion to a luxury resort village, in 1987, was skilfully managed to retain the original character, with stone buildings and cobbled walkways leading to flower-decked courtyards.
