The Cumbria/Lake District
Park House nestles in the beautiful Eden Valley surrounded by fantastic views of the Pennines and the Lake District. The Village of Skirwith is in the Eden Valley only 8/9 miles from the historic Market Town of Penrith and 12/15 miles from the Lake District, the nearest point being Ullswater and Pooley Bridge. The nearby Village of Langwathby lies next to the River Eden and contains the nearest village shop and post office. There are beautiful walks to enjoy along the River Eden, up Cross Fell and surrounding Fells and around the beautiful surrounding Villages. The roads are great for cycling and take you through beautiful areas of the Eden Valley. We are well located when it comes to choices of dining out. There are good local pubs as well as restaurants to be enjoyed.
There is a near by lake with stunning scenery if you enjoy a bit of fishing, situated in the village of Blencarn about a mile from Skirwith. There is also a Gliding Club that is based on the outskirts of Skirwith & Kirkland that allows you the opportunity of a flight in the Eden Valley.
Throughout the year there are always events to be enjoyed in the surrounding area, these are regularly updated on our website. There are many places of interest varying from Castles to Wildlife Parks and lots of local history to be enjoyed. Not forgetting the great outdoors that can be enjoyed throughout your stay free of charge.
The climate in the Eden Valley is unpredictable, sometimes 4 seasons in one day! On a beautiful Spring/Summer's day or a crisp winters morning the Eden Valley can not be beaten!
The Eden Valley is a relatively unknown area, but is being discovered due to the popular Coast to Coast Cylce route and the famous scenic route up Hartside. At the top of Hartside you look out over the whole of the Eden Valley right over to the Lake District Fells. It is absolutely breathtaking and one not to be missed.
The uniqueness of the area enables you to get to the heart of the Lake District and be surrounded by beautiful fells and lakes or to venture to the lower valleys and experience the stunning farming landscape.
The beauty of the area is you can have hustle and bustle or complete tranquility both within a stones throw of each other.
