This lovingly restored 18th century barn retains its rustic charm as well as providing all modern comforts. Facilities include:

Hadrian's Wall and the Scottish Borders are a leisurely drive away. All amenities can be found in the nearby bustling market town of Penrith.

The Cumbria/Lake District
The Steading, Great Strickland is surrounded by spectacular scenery, and provides an ideal base for exploring an abundance of attractions. On the fringe of the Lake District National Park, it is just a ten minute drive west to Pooley Bridge, Ullswater. To the east of the beautiful, unspoilt Eden Valley, lie the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Beauty. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is to the south and Hadrian's Wall and the Scottish Borders are a leisurely drive north.
The Strickland Arms village pub is less than 5 minutes walk away from your accommodation. It serves local Jennings and guest ales offering an extensive menu.
Also in the village there is an enclosed playground, St Barnabas Church, the village hall which holds regular events and a recycling station.
The nearest village store is in Askham (2.5 miles)
The nearby historic market town of Penrith is just 6 miles away and has a range of amenities including supermarkets, banks, restaurants, petrol stations, post office, medical centres, library, leisure centre, etc.
Appleby and the Pennines and the surrounding areas of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, have the perfect terrain for activity holidays such as walking or cycling holidays, whatever the level of ability, there is something to suit all, from a riverside walk, to a walk on the fells. For cyclists there is the Pennine and Cumbrian cycle ways. Or alternatively you can enjoy a leisurely and less strenuous cycle. Appleby offers the perfect location for a relaxing short break or an exciting activity holiday - whatever the season.
For avid fishermen there are an array of fishing Lakes and the River Eden (permits required) offering some of the best fishing in the country.
The area is a haven for walkers with no shortage of walks, whether it's a challenging walk on one of the Lake District fells or a gentle stroll around one of the many villages, there is something to suit all.
There are nine golf courses to choose from in Cumbria, all of which are situated amid spectacular scenery.
