The benefit of Henge Cottage over many other Cumbrian cottages is the wealth of outdoor space which it provides. Its enclosed garden with rustic dry stone walls and sandstone patio affords visitors some stunning vistas of the fields lying out with the pre-historic Mayburgh Henge. Yet, the interior of Henge Cottage does not want for comfort either. Here, visitors will find an exceedingly cosy lounge, warmed by panel heaters, in which all modern conveniences such as TV, DVD player and CD radio are present. The kitchen houses an electric cooker with microwave and a spin-dryer and should suit all occupants' need.

The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery.
This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits.
The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family.
The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base.
Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

Penrith

As with many Lake District cottages, Henge Cottage profits hugely from its surroundings, which allow for any number of indoor or outdoor activities. Situated in Eamont Bridge, it affords visitors access to some wonderful gourmet pubs. Penrith is only 1.5 miles away and here you will find even more to keep you entertained from the leisure centre to the local swimming pool. Yet, for those staying in holiday cottages in Cumbria, the experience will not be complete until they have taken a walk and look around at some of the gorgeous scenery and historic sites. The great thing about Henge Cottage is that it is within walking distance of Brougham Castle, Arthur's Seat and the legendary Mayburgh Henge itself.
