About the home

As you would imagine, Green Barn is one of the cottages which has been converted from an original barn into a comfortable holiday home. Perfect for a visiting couple, this is one of the few holiday cottages in Cumbria which is designed for just two people to enjoy space, clean air and some peace and quiet. Located on the foothills of Little Mell Fell this quaint cottage nestles in a rural idyll and boasts stunning views across open country.

Inside the accommodation is all on the ground floor and has a spacious and well heated lounge diner which affords a beautiful view across to the fells. The kitchen is well equipped and the spacious double bedroom is supplied with high quality linen for a great night's sleep. Outside the property the garden is equipped with seating to make the most of the views and experience the wildlife on the doorstep.

Dining/Lounge: With a view over the tarn to the fells beyond, colour TV, DVD, CD/radio and electric stove.

Bathroom: With shower over bath, WC and hand basin.

The Cumbria/Lake District region

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery.This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

The Penrith / Penruddock area

In this part of the Lake District cottages like the Green Barn enjoy excellent access to some of the most popular areas in the park. Nearby Ullswater, with its 9 mile stretch of meandering waters, is a haven for walkers, watersports and wildlife and around the lake the picturesque Cumbrian villages offer a welcome break from the great outdoors, with superb tea rooms and historical buildings to explore.
To the North the more peaceful area of Caldbeck Fells offers a quieter day out and just 12 miles to the west the town of Keswick houses a wealth of amenities and shops
