"Quiet luxury in a lovely village setting close to all the Lake District had to offer"

We spent a fabulous weekend in Smithy house enjoying the wonderfully warm lounge log fire and sitting round the country dining room eating and drinking after a hard days walking
The house is beautifully appointed with top quality fittings and original artwork
The local village has a great hotel that served the best rack if lamb I've ever eaten
The location is excellent for the local pub just a few minutes walk and close to the lakes which need a short journey by car or cycle which we did as keen bikers
Highly recommended for the energetic and also those who
Just want to relax

"A beautiful home, we did not want to leave!"

We have just come back from a glorious break in Smithy House. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. The owners know exactly how to make you feel welcome - a homemade pot of jam and hand written note greeted us as well as an offer of a drink from their selection.

The house is luxurious but cosy too. Lots of space in all of the bedrooms and each room has its own charm. The area is great too we visited Ullswater lake for the day followed by a walk up to the waterfalls. The kitchen is huge and well stocked with everything you would need to make a family meal. It was the perfect place to spend time with the family.

The beds were lovely and comfortable and absolutely spotless thought the house. The welcome book gives you all the info you could need for your stay.

Colin, the owner was great to deal with when booking, he made everything go smoothly and offered tips of where to eat out. He was also very kind to let us check out a little later with it being Father's Day - this made a huge difference to our last day.

I couldn't recommend this house enough an absolute pleasure, we really hope to return!

"It felt like home !"

As soon as we arrived I knew we were going to enjoy our stay at Smithy House. Myself and my partner arrived on Good Friday along with my two sisters and my brother-in-law, to a cozy welcoming place to stay. We walked everyday with my sisters cocker spaniels, Jasper and Benson, always finding a new walk each with equally stunning views. The snow-capped peaks were awesome. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the local pub and we also enjoyed visits to Ambleside and Grasmere. Smithy House is a beautiful place with everything you could possibly need. The beds were very comfortable, so important when your away from home. The house was superb for what we wanted. We had lots of fun and made lots of memories. Thankyou to Colin for the excellent communication during booking.

"What more can I say? Absolutely Wonderful!!!!"

My husband and I came all the way from Australia to stay at Smithy House, we were NOT disappointed at all, in fact we wished we had book an extra week. The house is fab, just as you see on the web site. The house is fully equiped with every thing you need, home from home. I loved the bath it was heaven :) soaking in it to warm me through after a full day out in the Lake District, the weather was cold (not used to been so cold) but sunny. Then you can sit in front of the log fire with a nice glass of wine and relax :) The house is warm and inviting and very well presented, the beds are so comfortable. We wanted a place that sleeps a few people so we could invite some family over from the North East and spend time together in one place, this worked well, we had the best time in the best location. Next time we come out to the UK to vist family & friends we will definitely stay here again :) We wished we had met the owners of the house to say thank you. Comunication with the owner Colin via email was easy and very prompt :) I would recommend this holiday home to every one, already told all my family and friends :) Go on book it, you know you want to!! :-)
