"Our family of 5 found Penolabackpackers very comforatable and well appointed and would definitely stay again."

Our family of 5 stayed overnight in the double room for the parents and the 3 teenage boys shared a 4 bunk room. The house is in a great spot in the main street close to all shops/hotels etc. and next to the park. We brought food for dinner and it was easy to cook in the lovely kitchen and BBQ just outside. It certainly had all the comforts of home and the boys enjoyed the big flat screen TV and the free WiFi. Bathroom facilities were numerous and very good and the whole place homely and clean. it suited our family very well and we would stay again!

"Amazing value for money"

Short review - price is spectacular and the facilities are clean and well maintained. The owner is friendly, accommodating and very helpful. We had a wonderful time and will stay at this property any time we are in the region.

"Made my visit to Penola great!!"

I'm doing a wine tour of SA by myself on a backpackers budget, so understandably I can't afford many of the fancy wine related B&B's in the area. Penola Backpackers not only made my vis… More

"Don't be put off by the term "Backpackers" !"

This backpacker accommodation is good and more comfortable than the usual. We stayed in the room with a queen bed and its own toilet and wash basin. The kitchen was large and very well equipped even down to flowers and recipe books! There are plenty of bathrooms.
Our host, the owner Sandra Smith who has a property out of town, made an effort to meet us and we benefited from her local knowledge. She recommended Petticoat Lane – a street of slab huts preserved as they were in 1860s by the local national trust. Also the pub which Mary Mackillop's aunt ran and the school where Mary MacKillop acted as a governess. A ideal base for those doing some wine tasting in Coonawarra. Undercover parking at the rear, butcher shop across the road and supermarket within walking distance. BBQ at the back ideal for those wanting to try some of the local red wine. Industrial washing machine also handy. Town swimming pool across the road.

"lovely host with upscale feel"

The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. My partner and I stayed in a private room, which was very nice. The inside of the house is mostly updated (minus the bathroom) but has everything you could need and more!
