Las Marinas is a group of 23 houses 100 metres from the sea and 600 metres from the south beach of Peniscola. It has great sea views, and a shared pool with a childrens section. The house has a built in garage, a small garden with patio and barbecue, and a large south-facing terrace overlooking the bay. Access to the development is through remote controlled electric gates and you can park your car right outside the door. Our friendly managers live just a few minutes away, ready to greet you when you arrive.

All the accommodation is currently on the first floor and consists of the living space with open plan kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Large glass doors lead out to the terrace which is about 6 metres long and 3 metres wide. There is a large circular dining table and four sun loungers. The terrace is partly covered, and can be fully covered by extending the full width awning. There is a marble worktop with electric socket on the terrace so that you can use the electric plancha grill if you don't want to use the barbeque in the garden.

The living area includes a sofa and coffee table, and is equipped with TV and DVD /CD player (the only English TV channel is BBC World News). It is possible to connect your MP3 player or mobile phone for playing your own music, or you can see if any of our CD's or DVD's are to your taste. There is a small desk with a chair, ideal for your laptop computer, which you can connect to the free Wi-Fi system, along with your mobile phones and other devices. Air conditioning is fitted in the living area which can also be used for economical heating in the cooler months.

The kitchen includes a dishwasher, an oven/grill and electric hob, a microwave oven, a toaster and an electric kettle, a coffee percolator, and a good sized fridge/freezer. The large bathroom includes a bidet, a bath with shower and glass screen, and plenty of space for your toiletries.

The larger bedroom has a double bed, and has large fitted wardrobes, the smaller bedroom has two single beds and also has large fitted wardrobes. Reading lamps and a hair-dryer are provided. There is no air-conditioning in the bedrooms, but all rooms have ceiling fans and there is a large portable standing fan, which help to spread the cool air around. The windows have fly screens fitted.

The garage is fitted with a wash sink and a washing machine, and there is an iron and ironing board provided. There is a collection of mountain bikes in the garage that belong to the owner. If you choose to use them it is your decision. Neither the owners nor the managers accept any responsibility for any accident or injury caused by the use of these bicycles.

Just a 10 minute walk (600 metres) from the house will take you to the southern edge of Peniscola where the restaurants and the sandy beach start. If the walk is too much then there is an hourly bus service along the coast road (June to September).

Peniscola is a traditional Spanish seaside town with a huge choice of bars and restaurants, and plenty of shops, including supermarkets. It caters very much for family holidays, and not so much for the lager and nightclub crowd. It has extensive clean beaches offering the usual attractions such as watersports and play areas, as well as lifeguard stations.

There is a working fishing fleet and it's great to visit the harbour late afternoon when it returns. You can watch them land their catches and then buy some of the seafood from the small shop near the harbour gate. The old part of Peniscola is known as the "City in the sea" and is packed with narrow cobbled streets with many unique shops and bars. The town is topped with a working lighthouse and a historic castle.

If the bustling town or the tourist beaches are too busy for you, then go in the opposite direction towards the Sierra D'Irta Natural Park. There's a coast path that starts just 15 minutes walk along the road and gives access to 15 Kilometres of completely undeveloped coastline, with small quiet beaches and cliffs, and a hinterland of mountains that contain old castles, towers and hermitas, and a network of paths connecting them. Whilst the area is best explored on foot or mountain bike, you can drive the coast path but it is unmade and quite rocky in places.

The Valenciana region

The Costa del Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast) stretches from the southern tip of Catalunya down to Gandia at the top of the Costa Blanca. It is named after the huge areas of orange groves whose blossom in springtime can perfume the entire coast.

Peniscola is the jewel in the crown of the Costa del Azahar and is about 140 Km north of Valencia and 230 Km south of Barcelona.

"Super little house in a great location"

Just back from 16 Las Marinas in Peñiscola. The house had everything we needed, furnished and equipped to a high standard. It was safe and secure and in a good location with sea views and palm trees! The area was lovely...historic castle and old town, busy bars and quirky shops in the town itself, really nice sandy beaches, the fishing port with a good bar to sit and watch the boats come in and unload their catch and good walks and bike trails in the National Park. Both relaxing with lots to do, really Spanish in character. We have already booked again for next year. Happily recommending it.
