The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
This is a lovely area with plenty of uncrowned beaches nearby. It is also close to a number of monuments which are well worth a visit - please enquire for further details. There are world famous surf spots within walking distance, or just a short drive.
Costa de Prata is stretching from Lison to Figueira de Foz and benefits from golden-sand beaches washed with waves of the Atlantic Ocean. This is not the most popular part of Portugal and this its beauty - with small, pretty villages with a typical Portuguese way of life, culture and quinine, you will experience the rural and unspoiled way of living.
Peniche / Baleal area
Among the local attractions are Óbidos Castle, Alcobaça Monastery and Berlenga Island, a National Park. There are numerous restaurants in which to sample the wonderful local cuisine, as well as plenty of activities including water sports and fishing.
Peniche is a small and peaceful village, where you can talk with the locals, gorge on the local quinine and enjoy the scenery and one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.
Ideal holiday location for relaxing on the beach but close to cities for shopping and nightlife.

Uper place to stay. Right on the beach & only yards from the surf. House was clean & well equipped. Place to leave surf boards and wet suits. Great coffee & pastry shop next door. Great location for both experienced surfers & beginners. Barbecue provided and fresh fish available locally. Will certainly return. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Rita House is the best place to be and great value for your money! We (7 adults) had a fantastic time in May 2008 and will come back again this year. Rita House has everything you want: Ocean view, big living room area, beautiful rooms, terrace, helpful and relaxed landlords, and the best beaches in 2 minutes walking distance. Here you can find surfable waves for all kind of surfers from beginner to pro ....
Baleal is perfectly located for non-surfers aswell. Beaches for swimming, some good restaurants and you can reach Lisboa in less than one hour. ------------------------------------------------------------------ If you are heading to the area of peniche this is the place to stay! Its location simply cannot be beaten with stunning views of the Atlantic and rugged coastline. If you wish to surf then the Rita house is just perfect. Situated in Baleal the Rita House backs right onto the lagido reef. There is nothing quite like a hard day in the surf to come back and just relax out the back of the house with a cold beer and a BBQ and watch the sun set over the peeling waves on the reef and of course is ideal for the morning surf check-you dont even have to get out of bed! There is also a terrace that gets the sun all day and is protected from the wind with great views across the bay of baleal, another fantastic surf spot within a couple of minutes walking distance. We are a mixed sex group of 8 and have stayed at the Rita House 2 years running for a weeks stay each year. The house is very clean, well equipped, the rooms are of good size and the lounge and kitchen area is very spacious even for a large group. There is a lockable wet room/storage room for your surf gear just outside the front door with a shower to wash down and store all your gear. The house is within a block of four houses with a courtyard in the middle and a gated entrance making the place very secure and relaxing. There is plenty of parking space and several good bars and restaurants within a 5 minute walk in Baleal. I highly recommend the steak house! The main town of Peniche is a 5 minute taxi ride where several more very nice restaurants and bars can be found. Fernando and his family are fantastic. They will make you feel very welcome and will bend over backwards to ensure you enjoy your stay to the maximum. Providing up to date surf reports, advice on where to surf given the conditions, where to eat, where to drink etc and will sort out anything you need. Living just across the courtyard Fernado is always there should you need him. Supertubes - the local surf hotspot is a 5 minute drive round the corner which is where we spent most of our days, with several other high class uncrowded breaks located within a 30 min drive. Even for non surfers this is an amazing place to stay for a relaxing beach holiday and get away from the usual hussle and bussle. We cannot recommend the Rita House and Fernando and his family highly enough to make your stay in this area exactly as you dreamed. We cant wait to get back there!!
