About the home

A modern holiday villa situated on the edge of the little town of Pénestin,on the Atlantic Coast between Vannes and La Baule. It is a pleasant unspoilt little town with some nice beaches and wonderful coastal paths.

This is a modern holiday villa and the
owners have decorated it in very pretty contemporary style using pastel
colours and attractive stencilling.
Ground floor: Open plan living room with comfortable seating, TV, CD and DVD,
dining area and French windows opening to the back garden. Very attractive
and well-equipped kitchen area which also opens to the garden, well equipped
with 4-ring hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine
and electric kettle. Double bedroom (140cm). Shower room and separate WC.
First floor: Double bedroom (140cm), Single (120cm), and twin. Low sided cot.
Bathroom with bath and shower. Separate WC. Electric heating.
Outdoors: Enclosed
and secluded south-facing garden, mostly grass, with terrace, BBQ and garden
furniture for outdoor meals, and a pretty little cabin in the garden with
lots of indoor and outdoor games for children, and some bicycles, ideal for
cycling to the village or to the beach. Parking for two cars.

The Brittany / Morbihan region

The property is about 1k from Penestin which has good local facilities: two supermarkets, a boulangerie and a few bars and restaurants with the emphasis on seafood and if you are not dining out you can always take some home from the poissonnerie. In the 19th century gold was discovered at Penestin and one of the local beaches is called la Plage de la Mine d'Or. As the house is on a peninsula there are several beaches within 1 - 2k, some are sandy and some have rock pools; the estuary of the River Vilaine is about 250m. Mussels are cultivated in the estuary and the old lighthouse has been converted into a mussel museum. There is much to visit in this area without driving far: the walled town of Guérande, 25k, the sophisticated town of La Baule, 35k, La Grande Brière (wildlife reserve), the salt marshes and fishing villages such as Piriac sur Mer.

The Penestin area

After the menhir of Pierre-Longue and the bay of Sables-Menus, there is a 22 acre park, the Parc d Pen-Avel which is planted with evergreen oaks.

The beach at Port-Lin, overlooked by 19th C and early 20th C villas, which form the beach and resort area of Le Croisic is well worth seeing, as are the beaches of Saint-Valentin ad Saint-Michel, an oasis of calm beside the town of Batz.

The Cote Sauvage continues from the Pointe de Croisic past Batz-sur Mer and Le Pouliguen to the Point de Penchateau.

This part of the coast contains many caves, of which the largest and best-known is the cave of Korrigan. A round trip of the Cote Sauvage by car will take about two hours.
