About the home

Casa Sionia offers rural accommodation in the small village of Cantallops, in the Alt Penedes region, in the province of Barcelona, between Vilafranca del Penedes and Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, less than half an hour from the popular Sitges beach.

The house dates back to before the 18th century and is composed of two floors. On the ground floor you will find the reception area and the kitchen, the bathroom, the dining room, an outdoor patio area with barbecue and a swimming pool for children and adults alike. On the first floor, the bedrooms and another bathroom. The house has a maximum capacity for 6 people sleeping in 3 double rooms. Casa Sionia also has a chimney, which gives a cosy, rustic feel to the house.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

The house which is an authentic Catalan town house, is modernised with respect for the original style, is situated in the Penedes region, which is one of the most important wine districts. The house provides a perfect base for relaxation. Read a book, take a swim in the pool and enjoy the hot summer nights on the terrace with a glass of the local cava or red wine from local wine district.

The landscape at the entrance to the Pyrenees is dominated by small rivers, hills, fields and forest, which provides excellent conditions for a variety of sports- and outdoor activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, angling, canoeing, river crafting or perhaps a visit to the owners farm.

Furthermore the central location in Catalonia makes every corner of province accessible in one-day excursions. From the Dali-museum in the north, the Costa Brava coastline, the beaches at Sitges which is only 25 km. away and Barcelona in the south and further south Tarragon with its amphitheatre and universal studios amusement park for the kids. A generous and cosy region, with true cultural, gastronomical, artistic, historical, traditional and legendary treasures. Also a region for the playful who loves sport activities.

In the winther, the ski-resorts in Andorra and the Pyrenees is only a 45 minutes drive away. In the summer you can enjoy the tracks of the Pyrenees or for the adventures paragliding or climbing.
The spring (march-may) in Catalonia is sunny, green and comfortable warm. The daily temp. reaches 16-22 degrees.

The autumn (Sep.-Nov) is very warm in the beginning (Sep.) with a daily average temp. reaching 27 degrees. October and November has an average temp. starting at 22 in October ending with 17 in November

The Penedes area

The privileged location makes this the ideal place to spend a few days enjoying the marvellous Costa Daurada and its many attractions. The beautiful beaches at Sitges are just 30 minutes away. Wine lovers and those of Cava will find wine cellers in the area, with Vilafranca del Penedes being the main centre for wine tasting. And for the more sporty types, the natural park in Garraf offers infinite possibilities.
