About the home

Two Hoots can be found on a lane leading to Freshwater East, a glorious, sandy bay just a mile away where you'll also find a local pub with some of the best coastal views in Pembrokeshire. Medieval Manorbier castle, village & beach is within 2 miles and the award winning Barafundle Beach within 5 miles. Two Hoots was built in 2005 - a conversion of the former granary of Hodgeston Hall - the adjacent Grade II listed building. Great care has been taken to empathise with its surroundings - the exterior being faced with old, local limestone whilst internally, there is liberal use of exposed timber. There are rural views to front & rear and the children will love to watch the horses in the surrounding fields or play football on the village green.
The cottage sleeps a maximum of 7 plus baby in a cot. There are three bedrooms and the house is toddler friendly. Upstairs there is a large family bedroom with double & single bed (can be used as a twin, double or triple room), another double-bedded room, and a bathroom. Downstairs there is double-bedded room with an en-suite shower room (large, 1200mm long shower) - ideal for the elderly or for friends. The generously sized kitchen/diner is fully fitted with beech units & every modern appliance including dishwasher. The farmhouse table easily seats 7 and there is also a highchair. The spacious lounge has modern, 3-seater sofas, stereo with CDs and tapes, Freeview T.V., a selection of DVDs and bookcase with novels, maps and local tourist information.
The garden at the rear is walled, making it private and safe - ideal for the under 5's. It is has a lawn and borders with colourful climbing plants. The front garden is also fully enclosed by a wall & the gravel drive has ample, secure parking for 3 cars. Leading off from the dining area is a large, private patio with BBQ and garden furniture.
ACCESS STATEMENT
The grounds are completely flat and entrances have one standard step. There is access for a wheelchair through the patio doors at the rear. The lounge, kitchen and downstairs bedroom are wheelchair accessible but the en-suite shower room is not. The property is, therefore, only suitable for wheelchair users who have some mobility.

The West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Pembrokeshire region

Pembrokeshire is famed for being the only coastal National Park in Britain. It has spectacular scenery and the weather is generally mild in this western-most peninsular of the UK. There's plenty to do in this fascinating County - water sports from nearby Freshwater East Bay, boat trips to the monastery island of Caldey, fishing at Bosherston Lily Ponds, not to mention riding and golf - all within 5 miles. The award winning theme park of Oakwood, Folly Farm and Heatherton are also within 10 miles. Clues to Pembrokeshire's Norman history and ancient past are all around with the magnificent castles of Pembroke, Manorbier and Carew amongst the best in Wales and well worth a visit.
Both historic Pembroke and colourful Tenby with its Georgian houses, picturesque harbour and town beaches are thriving holiday centres.
The Pembroke / Hodgeston area
From the cottage a narrow lane winds its way for about a mile to the coastal footpath, with spectacular views of long sandy beaches, small coves and the islands of Caldey and Lundy in the distance. In Spring the cliffs provide a hideaway for nesting birds and in late Summer the Atlantic Grey Seal can sometimes be glimpsed basking on rocks with her pup.
The easily accessible beach at Freshwater East with its golden sand and superb walks is just a mile or so, or why not catch the coastal cruiser bus to the award winning, idyllic Barafundle Bay just 5 miles away? There are 6 excellent pubs/ restaurants within 1 mile, all offering value for money and welcoming children. The nearest, The Freshwater Inn, with a magnificent view overlooking the sea, can be reached by the traffic free lane outside the cottage. The medieval village of Lamphey also has a shop, bakery, post office/store & railway station - not to mention a ruined palace which was one of the favourite residences of the Bishops of St. Davids in the Middle Ages. At Pembroke you'll find the magnificent Pembroke Castle, birthplace of Henry VII and home to live theatre and medieval events in the summer. Hodgeston itself boasts a 13th Century church with a striking Norman embattled tower.

This was our second visit to this beautiful cosy cottage, with the addition of a baby this time who was more than adequately provided for by the owners. We didn't have brilliant weather this time but there is plenty to do around the area, with some beautiful beaches & walks. Also it is so nice to go back to the well appointed cottage after a cold brisk walk, the owners provide you with everything you could possibly want to make your stay comfortable. I almost want to keep it our little secret & not publicise it to the world, but also want to sing the praises of Eileen & her family for making our New Years break with our family so enjoyable. Thankyou again Eileen & I highly recommend your cottage (grudgingly) to everyone!!! Response: Thank you so much for your lovely comments - they almost brought a tear to my eye! We really do try to make our guests' stay as memorable as possible and our reward is if they become more like friends. Looking forward to you returning to Two Hoots soon. Best wishes, Eileen. |

Lovely cottage in a quiet peaceful spot. The children loved their rooms and had plenty of space to play. A huge great kitchen which was close to the living room so we could keep an eye on the children. Great washing and drying facilities which is essential with 3 children! We've stayed in quite a few holiday cottages over the years but this was by far the best one we've stayed in and we'll be back. Response: Thank you so much for the 5 star rating and the lovely comments. We're really pleased that you had an excellent holiday and want to return to Two Hoots. Best wishes, Eileen. |

The whole booking experience was very straight forward, the property owner was very thorough and quick to respond to any queries that we had. The property was in very good condition and catered perfectly for our needs; there was ample space for our party of 4 adults and 1 child, the property was well equipped for our stay and it was great to have off-road parking for more than one vehicle. The house is situated in a lovely hamlet, on a quiet lane with good access to local amenities of which the owners have provided a concise list and their locations. A great beach is less than 5 minutes drive, there are many opportunities for good walks nearby and the property is just a short drive away from the nearby towns of Tenby and Pembroke, which are both worth a visit. Further afield is the beautiful National Botanic Garden of Wales. For the children, Folly Farm and Manor House Wildlife Park are recommended! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Pembrokeshire and the property was ideal for our needs and exactly what we were hoping for. Response: It really is lovely to have such positive feedback. Thank you very much for giving us 5 out of 5. You obviously had a wonderful holiday! Best wishes, Eileen. |

You must be so proud to be the owners of such a quaint & welcoming property in such a lovely area. We were out walking most of the day & then had the benefit of collapsing back into a warm, welcoming environment that was to die for! Paul/Sue Beynon (January 2011)
We've just returned from our week in Pembroke. Two Hoots was one of the best cottages we've ever stayed in. Thank you. Helen Shaw (April 2009).
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home. ........the only one regret we will have is that we couldn't lift your home and somehow transport it back to the South East with us! Say "cheerio" to the friendly farmer for us. Kelly.
