The West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Pembrokeshire region

The mild climate in Pembrokeshire makes it great for visitors all year round. Pembrokeshire offers quiet relaxing holidays with gentle walks across sandy beaches and dunes and beautiful countryside. It also offers a host of activities such as swimming, surfing, coasteering, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, golf and pony trekking.
Pembrokeshire boasts an impressive coastal path taking in superb views and coastal sea life with many boat trips to see dolphins and puffins. Many castles can be visited during your stay, many of them offering guided tours and activity days.
Inland there are various theme parks for all ages.
The Pembroke / Freshwater East area
From the small coastal village of Freshwater East you will be ideally placed to explore the stunning coastline of the Castlemartin Peninsula. Stackpole Quay, Barafundle Beach, the Bosherston Lily Ponds and Broad Haven Beach are all within easy reach either along the Coastal Path or via the country roads.
Taking the other direction, Manorbier, Lydstep and Tenby can be easily reached either by foot again along the beautiful Coastal Path or by car along the Ridgeway. The Coastal Cruiser (bus service) which has a circular route, is brilliant for those who want to walk and would like to have a lift back from places of interest around the area.
There are two village pubs, one is a two minute walk from Per Ardua, both offer real ales and good homecooked food. Shops are a 2 minute drive to either East Trewent Park or Lamphey Village. Larger supermarkets are situated in Pembroke and Pembroke Dock approximately a 10 minute drive away.

We spent a lovely week here with our family. Very much a home from home. Plenty of room to enjoy ourselves and we have taken lovely days out along the beautiful coastal path and to various beaches. Pembroke is just such a stunning area and we would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home.
Colin and Mary – Guisborough, Cleveland
Had the most amazing week here, wish we could have stayed another week or 2!!! The area is so picturesque, your home beautiful and the people very friendly. Daniel (aged 4) has enjoyed everything. Pembroke castle. Folly farm and the beach to name just a few. Thank you so much for letting us stay! Ps. Daniel did manage to walk to Manorbier Castle (much to everyones surprise).

Had a lovely week. Enjoyed the beach immensely. Everything we needed was here for us. Silent World Aquarium was very child friendly. Spent a wonderday on Caldey Island. I think Freshwater East is even nicer than I remember it from 50 years ago! Thank you both for making this such an enjoyable holiday.

This is my second time staying here and once again it hasn’t disappointed. On the first day here we went straight down to the beach, the next day I went ‘go karting’, the next day I went to ‘Making Tracks’ were I did Advanced Tanks and Seaways. I would advise you to go there. On Wednesday, we went to Caldey Island where I met two monks and one of them shuck my had. On Thursday we did Lazar Shooting, it was very good, I brought some face paints, and today I went to St David’s to do boating but it didn’t open until next week. Mum was not happy so we went out to eat and then went to the Cathedral. After that we went Zorbing, then came home to pack. I recommend to do all of the activities that I said. PS do ‘Making Tracks’, if it’s raining it’s better to do Lazaring in the rain it’s better ? see you next year ?

Lovely Holls. Sun lounger and courtyard were spot on. Courtyard for the dogs keeping them secure was very good. Outside loo was good, used it a lot. But then we are from up north.
Kate and Roger – Louth, Lincs
What a fantastic holiday, the house is spot on. The back porch (conservatory) was used all the time. Had a great day boarding at Freshwater West. Spent every day but one on the beach. The boys camped out for 2 nights and we went on a few runs in the mornings. Hills like I’ve never seen – batteries re-charged, back to work on mon ?, thank you and keep up the good work.
Clare and David – Louth, Lincs
Brilliant holiday, sun lounge best part of house, used every day. Beaches were ace, Freshwater West wicked waves!! Went to Pembroke Castle, a lot of windy stairs that were rather high up – fab weather all week.

Per Ardua is a wonderful place to have a holiday. The whole family have very much enjoyed themselves. Lovely walks along the coastal footpath, much kayaking and successful fishing. Great beaches – hope to be back again.

Having regularly holiday in Freshwater East a a child, it was lovely to come back with my own children and show them around. We saw seals in St Govans, others at Bosherton and the children and the dog loved all the beautiful beaches. The house is in a beautiful spot with views you can never tire of. Thank you for lending it to us.
I loved my holiday, I went to the beach most day, because it was so close. I loved the door bell, it was very unusual, I will never forget it.

Third time in Fre3shwater East, as beautiful and relaxing as ever, A great base for the three of us and our ‘guests’ (family and friends) with stunning views, Even though the great Welsh weather had it’s moments, we had a great week pottering about and visiting local towns and villages, The beach here is always a hit – the girls enjoyed their first body boarding experience! Hope to be back next summer – it was all and more that we could have hoped for. Thank you to the Cunninghams, Diolch o gallon x
