Rooks' Retreat is a cottage full of character, just 3 miles from historic Pembroke and 7 from lively Tenby. The car park can accommodate up to 3 cars and the enclosed rear lawn, with patio area, BBQ and garden furniture, overlooks the village green; an ideal children's play area.
The long sandy bay at Freshwater East is just a mile away and the award winning Barafundle bay is only five. It is an ideal walking & touring base for the coastal footpath, the county's finest beaches, castles and theme parks.
The inside of the cottage is well equipped, with everything you should need for a real home from home experience. Sleeping a maximum of 7 plus a baby we have four bedrooms: one double en-suite downstairs, one double en-suite upstairs, one twin upstairs and one single- it is friendly to both toddlers and the elderly. There are also, DVDs, CDs, books and Freeview TV for your use.

Rooks’ Retreat is a superb base for a great family holiday, with all of the comforts of home and everything you will need for a relaxing stay. The accommodation offers:
• A large comfortable lounge, with french doors leading to a patio area.
• Open-plan kitchen and dining room with: oak dining table, maple kitchen units, tiled floor, splash back and a stainless steel cooker hood.
• Downstairs bedroom, complete with en-suite bathroom.
• Separate downstairs shower room and toilet.
• Three upstairs bedrooms, one double en-suite, one twin and one single bed with cot.

The gravel drive & car park can accommodate up to 3 cars and is fenced to either side. The arched side entrance, with a purple flowering wisteria, leads to a private patio with BBQ and garden furniture. The large rear lawn is fully enclosed and the adjacent village green is ideal for picnics, where children can safely play.

A 25% deposit is required to confirm the booking; the balance being due 8 weeks before the holiday commences.
Please note our prices are FULLY INCLUSIVE - there are no additional charges for heating, electricity, towels or linen.

The West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Pembrokeshire region
Pembrokeshire is famed for having the only coastal National Park within Britain, with some of the country's finest beaches & countryside. South Pembrokeshire also has many magnificent castles: Pembroke (birthplace of Henry VII), Manorbier & Carew are all within 5 miles.
There's plenty to do in this fascinating county: walking, riding, fishing, golf, water sports and boat trips being just a few. The award winning theme parks of Oakwood, Folly Farm & Heatherton are within a few miles, whilst a visit to the Monastery on Caldey Island is a must. Cycle routes are available on request.
The Pembroke / Hodgeston area
A narrow lane winds from Hodgeston to the Pembrokeshire Costal Footpath, with spectacular views of Freshwater East Bay, Caldey and Lundy Islands in the distance. Freshwater beach is only 1 mile away, is easily accessible and has golden sand and superb walks. Manorbier beach is only 1 mile away, a well known surfing mecca, and there is an outdoor pursuit’s centre at Freshwater for the more adventurous.
You can catch the coastal cruiser bus to the idyllic Barafundle Bay or Bosherston Lily Ponds, which is a great place to fish. If golf is your sport, there are 3 courses - the nearest being just 5 miles away. Island visits and coastal boat trips are available from Tenby or Saundersfoot.
There are various places to eat within a short distance to Hodgeston, ranging from a traditional 13th Century pub at Jameston, to a bistro at Lamphey. Many offer value for money meals, takeaways, and welcome children.

From Cardiff, follow the M4 to Carmarthen, then take the A477 to Pembroke. Once at Milton, turn left following the signpost for Lamphey/Manorbier. At the top of the T junction, turn right to Lamphey, then at the junction with the A4139, turn left, direction Tenby. Keep on the A road until you reach Hodgeston, approximately 1 mile from Lamphey. As you pass the Hodgeston sign, take the next right up the small lane and Rooks' Retreat is the 2nd house on your left, directly next to Rosedene Guesthouse and below Hodgeston Church.
Sail from Rosslare, Ireland, to Pembroke Dock, then follow the sign to Pembroke. Then take the A4139 to Tenby and continue to Lamphey as above.
Take the train to Carmarthen, followed by: Tenby, Pembroke and finally disembark at Lamphey.

Really good cottage. Comfortable,cosy,clean,and had everything one could wish for.Full marks for having thought of every possible need. As a pair of pensioners we "rattled about" in this spacious property. We both commented on how good it would be for a family, with a good kitchen, washing machine,tumble drier and dish washer etc. Three showers etc etc also a rear garden with barbecue, and a very safe location front or back for children. It would also be very suitable for an Autumn/Winter break as it is a really cosy cottage with a very efficient central heating system. Hodgeston itself is little more than a hamlet, but there are numerous beaches and attractions on the doorstep. |
