The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region

At the south west tip of Wales lies the Pembrokeshire peninsular. With sea on 3 sides it has spectacular coastal scenery and beautiful beaches. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path runs the full length of this coastline. There are several islands off the coast which are havens for wildlife There is also the large natural estuary of Milford Haven.

Pembrokeshire is famous for its beauty, clean air, mild climate, wildlife and outdoor pursuits. It is one of the best destinations in the UK for adrenaline sports such as surfing, coasteering, sea cliff climbing and kite surfing and for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, kayaking and sea fishing.

In addition to natural beauty there are historic sites, quaint towns and villages, good pubs and restaurants, art and crafts and theme parks.

Pembroke

Freshwater East has a lovely sandy beach backed by dunes, marsh and woodland which form the Freshwater East Nature Reserve.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path passes along side the beach.

Freshwater Bay Holiday Village lies in the valley behind the beach.

There are other beautiful beaches nearby such as the famous Barafundle Bay and Broadhaven, both part of the Stackpole Estate (National Trust).

Heritage sites include Pembroke, Carew and Manorbier Castles, Lamphey Bishops Palace and tiny St Govan's chapel.

There are theme parks such as Heatherton Activity Park, Manor House Wildlife Park, Dinosaur Park, Folly Farm, Oakwood Theme Park and Blue Lagoon Water Park.

The area is good for traditional beach holidays, for outdoor activities, for sight seeing and for relaxation.

"Lived up to my expectations as a peaceful, relaxing holiday."

The accommodations was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. There was a quiet little spot to sit outside where all we could hear was sheep and birds and the occasional car.

The beach was a few minutes walk from the accommodation and was quiet and unspoiled. We walked on he beach every evening. There was details of coastal path walks in the accommodation and we did the short one to Swanlake Bay. The walk was a little hard as I was only wearing pumps but it was so worth it.

There was a pub not too far away where they served meals and a garage but if you wanted anything more you need to travel into Tenby.

I will booking this accommodation again. Can't wait!

"Excellent value for money"

Accommodation was very clean and well presented and completely met our expectations.
The owners were attentive, calling by to check that we'd settled in ok and ensuring we had contact details in the event of any problems. Location ideal, just a short walk to the beautiful beach and very quiet at the time of our visit.

"Fabulous family friendly holiday apartment"

We have stayed in Barnacle for a number of years in Freshwater East. Ideal location, 2 minutes from a lovely clean beach and surrounding areas to explore. Spacious apartment with all you need for a relaxing break. Very clean and tidy, never any problems. Great place to stay to visit surrounding areas such as Tenby, Pembroke and Manobier.
