Home description

Recently converted from a farm building, the accommodation is set in a tranquil location overlooking vineyards, woods and pretty undulating countryside. Every care has been taken to retain the character of the house and each room is tastefully decorated and furnished, providing everything for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The main entrance leads from a stone-walled terrace with pergola into a spacious dining room / lounge with TV and DVD player. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom and adjacent shower room with wash-basin and WC. The kitchen is fully equipped, with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave oven. A separate utility room has a freezer, washing machine, sink and ironing facilities. Upstairs there is a large twin bedroom, a mezzanine with a single and a roll-away bed and a second shower room with wash-basin and WC. Guests have the private use of a swimming (9 x 5) pool which can be seen from the terrace, kitchen, and the upper floor. Additional equipment includes parasols and sufficient sun loungers for every visitor. Bed linen and towels are changed weekly (excluding pool towels which are not provided). The English / French speaking owners are only too happy to help in offering advice on places of interest to visit.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region

The property is situated close to the Dordogne and Lot et Garonne borders, so is within easy driving distance of several Bastide towns and villages as well as the medieval towns of Saint Emilion, Sarlat and picturesque Bergerac and Duras. Each have lively markets on different days of the week. The accommodation lies within the Bordeaux wine region and the choice of wine makers offering free wine tasting is enormous. Restaurants in the vicinity are plentiful and during the summer season many of the villages have evening markets and festivals, varying from jazz and classical open air concerts to vide greniers (bric-a-brac fairs) and son et lumière events.


Pellegrue area

The nearest village to the property, Pellegrue, is only 4 kms away and offers a choice of shops: mini super market Ecomarche, baker, banks with cash dispensers, post office, chemist, bar and tourist information office where bikes can be hired, 2 tennis courts. Sainte Foy la Grande, only 17 kms away, is on the Dordogne river and has several supermarkets and on Saturdays a traditional market (known as one of the best in France).
There is an 18 hole golf course (27 holes in 2008) 20 minutes by car at Château des Vigiers in Monestier (www.vigiers.com) and where discount can be obtained.

By air to Bergerac from Stansted, Liverpool, Eastmidlands (www.ryanair.com), from Southampton, Birmingham, Exeter, Leeds Bradford, London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh (www.flybe.com).
By air to Bordeaux from Gatwick (British Airways) and from Luton (Easyjet)
By train (Eurostar) to Paris then TGV to Libourne (30 minutes by car) or Bordeaux (90 min by car).
By train (Eurostar) to Lille then TGV (Thalys) to Libourne or Bordeaux.

Guests visiting in low season have the comfort of full central heating (gas) at an additional cost. Totally refurbished in 2003, most of the furnishings and appliances installed are new.

Close to the terrace is a fixed BBQ. The swimming pool ( 9m x 5m), fitted with an ALARM meeting French Government Standard NF P 90-307, can be seen from the terrace and the views include a large garden, vines, woodland and pretty countryside. On adjacent land we have a grassy field for ball games.

¤ Refundable breakages deposit of £ 300.00 required eight weeks before arrival, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

A 30 % deposit is required with the completed Booking Form and the balance eight weeks before arrival. A security/damages cheque for £ 300,00 is returned 2 weeks after depature, less cost of any breakages. Rental charges include all outgoings (electricity, gas , water, rates, taxes), bedlinen and towels. Gas central heating, if required, is available at additional cost and will be deducted from the security deposit. Long weekends / Part weeks: Special rates for couples are available out of season (prices by arrangement). Christmas and New year breaks also by arrangement.
