The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region
Vanoise National Park:
The Vanoise National Park was created 6th July 1963. Location: Department of Savoie, between the Tarentaise Valley (River Isere) and the Maurienne Valley (River Arc). It covers 28 communes. Central zone of the National Park: 52,839 hectares.
This is a high altitude park ranging from 1000 to 3000 metres, this includes glaciers, ski slopes, lakes, forests and mainly high-level grasslands and meadows and is home to a very active livestock grazing industry connected mainly with the Beaufort cheese. It is bordered by five nature reserves, for 14 km it shares a boundary with Italy’s Gran Paradisio National Park.
Lake Annecy is a beautiful place to visit in the summer (for lakeside beaches).
The Peisey Nancroix area
Peisey Nancroix is the historic farming village which has been built around to form the heart of the Peisey - Vallandry / Les Arcs ski resort. As popular in summer as in winter, with the entrance to the Vanoise national park on your doorstep. The village has a few restaurants and bars, and typically french: Boulangerie, boucherie, tabac, and fromage, sherpa (alpine mini supermarket), and ski rental.
The Ski bus stop is located at the village car park, 50 yards from the chalet, and is 1min to the lobster pot lift. The leisurely walk back through the village is approx 600 metres to the chalet. The lobster pot lift goes up to the Les Arcs end of the Vanoise Express, the largest cable car system in the world, connecting La Plagne and Les Arcs resorts to form the Paradiski ski region. It makes accessible the most extensive skiing available anywhere in the world, with 425km of pistes, in a mixture of open and wooded runs. The resort is very snowboarding friendly, and has excellent ski school facilities for all ages, including "snow gardens" for youngest.
Winter activities are focussed on Paradiski ski area, with the most extensive skiing in Europe. Weekly lift passes for Paradiski offer an optional day in the Val D'Isere ski network. Skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing occupy most people, but sled dog racing, ice climbing, sledging, snowshoe hiking and more leisurely spas are also available locally.
Spring/Summer activities include mountain biking, cycle touring, hiking, fishing, white water rafting, canyonning, paragliding, tennis, and golf amongst others. The annual festival in Peisey village is held in the middle of August.

A very characterful chalet and also lots of space especially on the loft floor. Everything went fine and we had lots of beautiful weather for Jan ! It was our first time in Peisey village and we loved it so much that we can't wait to go back, it is a proper french village with all the essentials including mini mart and decent pizza restaurant. This is a very good base for the Les Arcs/Vallandry side of Paradiski. |
Guestbook for Maison de Bronziers
Stayed the first week in this newly renovated chalet and found it well equipped, very spacious, great for evening food & drink right in village and the best snow conditions for Les Arcs / Vallandry in many years. Will be coming back for sure.. S Platt
