About the home

These luxurious self contained two-bedroom apartments are situated just a 2 minute walk away from Paynes Bay beach on the famous west coast of Barbados. Its unique location enhances the total Caribbean experience.
Shades is situated just 400 yards away from the famous Sandy Lane golf course and 10 minutes drive away from Royal Westmoreland Golf Course.

Each bedroom has air conditioning and ceiling fans. The apartment has a large spacious bathroom and a well appointed kitchen. Full cable TV package and a DVD player are in the living room.

We have a large well maintained swimming pool surrounded by lush landscaping for privacy. A large gazebo is close by for outdoor activities in the shade. There is a gas and coal BBQ for you to use at anytime.
For those of you who still want to work out on holiday we have a well equipped fitness room. There is also a clothes wash/dryer room for the guests to use.

The St James Parish region

St James Barbados is a parish situated on the western coast of Barbados, where all of the famous beaches in Barbados are. St James tours are very popular for people from all over the world because of the opportunities for duty free shopping along with a large selection of upscale resorts and restaurants.

The Paynes Bay area

Located along the west coast, in the parish of St.James, is Paynes Bay beach.

There is a public entrance to the beach and another entrance a little further to the north.

Beach chairs are available for rental and there are several shaded areas on the beach to which you can retreat when the sun gets a bit too hot.

The waters here are very calm and the area is safe for swimming.

Watersports activities, including jet skiing and catamaran sailing, are available from the beach.

Directions to Shades (this journey should take you 30-35 minutes depending on traffic):-

From Grantley Adams International Airport take second exit at roundabout onto Tom Adams Highway and head towards to Spring Garden Highway:

At second roundabout "Henry Forde" drive straight over;

At third roundabout "Edwy Talma" drive straight over;

At fourth roundabout "Errol Barrow" drive straight over;

At fifth roundabout "Garfield Sobers" drive straight over and move into the right hand lane. You will pass 2 petrol stations on your right. The first is Shell petrol Station and the second is Texaco where you will immediately take the slip road on your right (as if going back on yourself)

Move into the left hand lane and bear left, follow signs to Spring Garden Highway;

At sixth roundabout (Designer Decor on right) drive straight over;
You will now be on Errol Barrow Highway;

Continue driving straight on this highway;

At seventh roundabout "Norman A Niles" drive straight over;

At eighth roundabout "Clyde Walcott" drive straight over;

At ninth roundabout "Everton Weeks" drive straight over;

At tenth roundabout "D'Arcy Scott" take your second exit on your left onto Gordon Cummins Highway;
You will pass Cheffette Restaurant and Shell Petrol Station on your left which is in an area called Warrens. Follow the highway;

At your first set of Traffic Lights on Hinds Hill take a right;

Follow the road straight until you approach a second set of Traffic Lights;

Drive straight pass these lights "Queens College" will be on your left;

Follow the road, you will be driving through a residential area then down a hill called Holders Hill;

At the bottom of that hill you will approach a junction (Daphne's Restaurant) will be straight across the road in front of you;

Turn right at that junction onto a main road and follow signs to Holetown, you will pass Texaco Petrol station on your right;

The first hotel you will pass on your left is Tamarind Cove, then Treasure Beach Hotel;

The next hotel you will pass on your left is The St James Luxury hotel;

Take a right turn onto a small road called Laynes Road (by the bus stop also on the left);

There will be a small assembly hall church as you turn right into Laynes Road;

Follow the road a few yards up a hill, you will be in a residential area;

Shades apartments is the fifth house on your left by white electric gates. Shades is written in Coral stone on a guard wall on your left.
