About the home

Dolphin House is situated opposite the beautiful sandy beach of Mongonissi; towards the South of Paxos and just a short drive from Gaios. The villa is completely detached and set within well tended gardens. The villa has a large shared pool and a pretty beach just below.

The large swimming pool, faces South, and has beautiful sea views. The pool is large enough for everyone to enjoy, however with excellent beaches just below the villa and the sandy beach just opposite you will often find the pool all to yourself!

The attractive lounge is comfortably furnished in an appropriate colour scheme of blue and white. Big patio doors open onto the covered veranda, offering breathtaking sea views. The bright modern kitchen is well-equipped, and has a large fridge/freezer and washing machine. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin-bedded, and both have air-conditioning. From the master bedroom, big patio doors lead out to the veranda.

Equipped with large umbrellas, sun beds and chairs, and with a cool stone-tiled terrace all round, this is a magical spot for a swim, whether you like a lazy float or a calorie-burning sprint, and moreover it will be hard to take your eyes off the view, that stretches as far as the neighbouring island of Anti-Paxos.

The Ionian Islands region

Paxos is the smallest of the Ionian Islands, lying just 11 km from the southernmost tip of Corfu. Many visitors return year after year to Paxos to experience the intimacy of this peaceful haven, the genuine friendliness of the local Paxiots, and the captivating scenery. Paxos is covered in many olive groves intersected by dry-stone walls and paths, that often lead to a derelict villa or abandoned stone olive press! The gnarled and twisted olive trees, some of them hundreds of years old, shelter numerous species of wild flowers at their roots, while here and there, small vineyards flourish. This serene and unspoiled landscape is what makes a holiday to the island of Paxos truly memorable.

The Paxos / Mongonissi area

Gaios is the 'capital' of Paxos, the largest of the three main settlements and the only one that can be called a town, albeit a very small one. Its Venetian and British heritage is visible in the colourful buildings that line the long harbour-front. Gaios now has two harbours - the newer one is a short walk or drive from the centre, and serves as the port of call for ferries, excursion and cruise boats. It is also the setting for the often spectacular arrivals and departures of the Corfu-Paxos seaplane service. The older harbour, sheltered from the open sea by two small islands, is a never-ending source of entertainment in summer, with its plethora of cosmopolitan yachts. Gaios continues its daily business regardless of its exotic visitors, and it is this contrast that makes it so entertaining to spend an hour or more at one of the cafes in the main square alongside the quay. An intriguing variety of eating establishments, chic boutiques and old-fashioned stores make Gaios quite fascinating.

With no airport on Paxos, most visitors fly to the nearby island of Corfu and then transfer by hydrofoil, sea taxi or seaplane. It is an exciting start to your holiday! Charter flights to Corfu operate from most major European airports from May to October. There are also scheduled flights operating from Athens during the winter months.
Paxos Car Hire or Taxi Transfer: We can arrange a hire car to meet you at the port of Gaios or a taxi transfer to take you to the villa.
