Fox Cottage is a south-facing renovated single storey Cotswold stone barn conversion forming one side of a courtyard on a non-working farm set amidst the open fields and paddocks of the North Cotswolds. Opposite, across the courtyard, are the stables for the owners’ horses. If you really want to get away from it all, this could be the place for you! The cottage is warm and cosy with oil fired central heating, double glazing and a large woodburning stove. To supplement the double bedroom there is a double sofa bed in the sitting area. Children are welcome and a cot and high chair are available on request. For those who wish to dine out, the award winning Churchill Arms in Paxford is just a few minutes’ drive or a 15 minute stroll away. Chipping Campden, with its wide range of small shops, pubs and restaurants is 3 miles distant.

Enter the cottage into a large lobby area with plenty of space to leave coats, walking shoes etc.
This leads through to a large open plan sitting room and kitchen. The room has pale, laminate wood flooring and is full height with exposed beams and rafters forming a very light, sunny and spacious area, 34 feet long by 12 feet wide.
The kitchen area is well equipped with a range of painted "shaker style" cupboards housing a stainless steel Baumatic gas hob and electric fan oven with extractor hood above, stainless steel sink and a half, dishwasher, microwave and larder fridge. There is good and unusual overhead lighting in this area. To the left of the door is a large larder cupboard and antique wooden plate rack. In a store room adjacent to the cottage is a freezer.
Adjacent to the kitchen area is a rectangular old pine wooden table and chairs. Double half glazed doors open on to the courtyard. On the outside of this door is an old wooden stable door which gives you the choice of having it fully or half open.
Two large comfortable sofas (one is a double sofa bed) and 32" Flat screen TV and DVD player form a cosy area around the woodburning stove which is laid ready for your use with a plentiful supply of logs and kindling in the trunks situated on either side.
Adjoining the sitting room is a large, carpeted double bedroom 15 feet by 12 feet with a 5' wide bed. A large fitted cupboard with hanging space and shelf over and a pine chest of drawers provide ample storage space.
There is one 10cm step down into the bathroom.
This is reached through the bedroom and is a fully carpeted room that is spacious and light with a white bathroom suite and attractive Victorian wall tiles. Over the bath is a thermostatic electric shower with a folding shower door. There is a large airing cupboard with hot water cylinder. Another cupboard houses the washer / dryer.
|Further details outdoors|
Outside the cottage is an old brick courtyard that forms a sheltered, south facing area for relaxation. There are garden chairs and tables available. In the summer the owners' horses are usually in the fields, though they may be brought into the courtyard at times for saddling prior to riding. The open side of the courtyard faces the owners' walled garden. Immediately opposite is a covered gated archway into the field beyond. You are welcome to wander through here and wander down to the stream that borders the field.
There is ample parking adjacent to the cottage.
To greet you upon your arrival there will be fresh flowers and a welcome tea tray with homemade cake. Beds are made ready and fresh towels provided. Logs for the wood burning stove are provided free of charge.
The Gloucestershire region
The North Cotswolds is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with rolling hills and many beautiful little villages to wander around and explore. Broadway and Chipping Campden are nearby with easy access to Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water.
Also, only a short drive away are Shakespeare's Stratford upon Avon, Warwick Castle and Blenheim Palace.
There are many gardens to visit in the area including Hidcote Gardens, owned by the National Trust.
Chipping Campden, just 3 miles from Fox Cottage, is a small market town built largely by wealthy medieval wool merchants. One of the most charming and unspoilt of the Cotswold towns, it is often described as having the most perfect High Street in England, with beautiful honey coloured stone buildings dating from the 14th to the 17th centuries. The Market Hall (now in the care of the National Trust) is an imposing open sided stone arched building erected in 1627 to provide shelter for the local produce market.
Visitors are welcome in the Old Silk Mill and the workshop of Harts (Gold and Silversmiths), descendants of C R Ashbee’s Guild.
There is a wide range of interesting small shops and a variety of good restaurants, tea rooms, hotels and pubs catering for all tastes.
The Ernest Wilson Memorial Garden in Chipping Campden is open 7 days a week with free entry. Hidcote Garden, owned by the National Trust and world renowned is just two miles away and, almost opposite, is Kiftsgate Garden which is well worth a visit.
