The Gloucestershire region

The town has changed little over the years and is still the focus for much of the local rural community. There are a wide variety of restaurants and pubs and an excellent range of shops selling local produce, gifts and antiques. The town is associated with the Arts and Crafts movement and offers a wide range of attractions for visitors, including medieval architecture, historic gardens and monuments, regular markets and unique shops. There are also numerous beautiful, quaint little villages waiting to be explored within a short drive.

Chipping Campden is one of the most beautiful and historic wool market towns of the North Cotswolds. It is famous for the curving high street and mellow stone houses and sits in a fold in the Cotswold Hills, straddling the River Cam in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the surrounding countryside is breathtaking.

Cultural events are held throughout the year, such as the Chipping Campden Music Festival, the Open Gardens weekend and the Robert Dover's Olimpick Games, described as “the first stirrings of Britain’s Olympic beginnings”. Stratford on Avon and Blenheim Palace, the birthplaces of Shakespeare and Churchill, are cultural gems situated nearby, as are the dreaming spires of Oxford. Cheltenham and the famous racing festival lie 15 miles away.

"A great cottage in a pleasant village"

We enjoyed our stay and spent many times in the garden. We also made use the kitchen with a superb selection of cooking utensils. The cottage was easy to find and the information in the book was very … More

"Calm, relaxing...a little gem"

We stayed here for a long weekend recently with an american friend. Arrived late on friday & within a short time had a log fire going thanks to only having to light it as it was all set & ready to go!… More

Thanks for taking the time to feed back to us. The cottage is in a lovely peaceful village and we receive lots of feedback saying it is calm. It really does have a great feel about it.
We recently had the oil fired boiler serviced and we thought the slight oil smell would go away after a week or so. We will have it looked into.
Thanks again for your review.

"Very comfortable cottage - pets not made welcome"

Stayed here for one week in October 2012. The cottage itself is lovely. Very comfortable, every need attended to. Pre arranged to take our pets with us, and paid a large fee for cleaning, as one would expect to do when taking pets to a rental cottage. Unfortunately received a very nasty letter from the owner after our stay informing the cottage was not clean enough when we checked out. The large fee for cleaning when taking pets should cover the cost of cleaning. Would not recommend to stay here if you plan on taking your pet on vacation with you.

Response to negative feedback on TA

We were threatened with a negative review following our polite email regarding our guests allowing their 3 dogs upstairs in the cottage (despite our conditions stating that dogs must not be allowed upstairs). We would be willing to share the email we sent to our guests so that potential guests can read for themselves and be assured that pets are very welcome, just not upstairs and not in the beds!

We expect all guests, dog owners as well as those who do not have dogs, to stay in our cottages and not find hair floating around, especially upstairs in bedrooms. This is only possible if dog owners respect the conditions of bringing their pets into the cottage and all we ask is for animals not to be allowed upstairs at all (we provide stair gates) or on downstairs furniture. This is only the 2nd guest in 7 years that we have felt the need to email and explain this to. On the whole, dog owners are respectful and look after the cottages impeccably. We did not ask for further payment and we were not rude in our email. It is a shame that any offence was taken and a threat of a negative review carried out.
