The exclusive village of Ramsgill in Nidderdale was often referred to as Little Switzerland in years gone by. As you look out of the windows of Green Farm House it's not difficult to understand why. The grand traditional stone built house proudly forms part of the village history dating back to 1800 when the York family built much of the property in the Village. The house now forms part of the family owned Ramsgill Estate. In warmer months you can understand why the Estate was chosen as the film set for the Film "FairyTale - A True Story" starring Peter O'Toole. In winter, when it snows, you could easily believe you had stepped Into Narnia. It truly is a magical setting all year round.

The house is warm and spacious and has been beautifully renovated to an exceptional standard. It is decorated with an exquisite mix of stylish contemporary and elegant traditional touches. Each room is bespoke designed with some individual quirky elements so as to ensure your stay is memorable.

During select holiday periods the house will be tastefully decorated so as it really does feel special and like coming home to your haven in the countryside.

The house offers all the benefits of a modern home along with the charm of a country house. The crackle of the real open fire in the sitting room provides a perfect setting to relax and unwind. There are two tables to dine at. In the kitchen, or in the formal dining room. The latter being perfect for celebrations, romance, or, no reason required decadence. There is careful attention to detail throughout the house. Plush fluffy towels and sumptuous toiletries in the bathrooms, and cloud like beds clad in Egyptian cotton bed linen in the bedrooms. Also provided in your stay is, home made cake and a welcome hamper full of essentials and goodies.

Should you decide to venture out, just 200yds away is the The Yorke Arms, an historic 18th century coaching house which boasts a Michelin starred restaurant. If you want to venture further afield, Green Farm provides the perfect gateway to a wealth of sights, activities and heritage. CHECK-IN 3PM CHECK-OUT 10AM

Pateley Bridge

In Pateley Bridge visit the award-winning Nidderdale Museum & Workhouse and get a taste of how life used to be. The King Street Workshops is home to a small group of highly talented and skilled craftspeople who are masters of their art. Collectively, they design and make their beautiful and exclusive pieces in a variety of materials including: fine wood, clay, hand-blown glass, precious metals, fabric and gemstones. Pateley is a foodies heaven. Be spoilt by the quality and array of local produce at traditional butchers, green grocers, bakeries and deli. If you cant wait till you get back to Green Farm, why not succumb to freshly cooked traditional Yorkshire fish & chips - gravy not obligatory. Pately is also home to Englands oldest sweet shop. It's impossible to not feel like a small child again as you stand at the counter staring at the jars of scrumptiousness deciding what to have.

Traditions are enthusiastically preserved with annual events such as the Nidderdale Show, Ripley Show, Great Yorkshire Show, Nidderdale Walking Festival and Pateley Bridge St Nicholas Fair.

At the upper end of the Dale lies the stunning Victorian Scar House Reservoir and How Stean, a natural limestone gorge. Middlesmoor and Lofthouse Hill provide some of the most outstanding and colourful views across Nidderdale : Green pastures, purple moorland and bluey hues of the sky over Gouthwaite Reservoir.

Just a short distance away are the World Heritage sites of Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal and Brimham Rocks. As are the stunning Ripley Castle, and Bolton and Jervaulx Abbeys and Ripon Cathedral. The area boast numerous charming villages and market towns such as Grassington, Kettlewell, Middleham , Knaresborough, Leyburn & Masham. The latter being home to the famous brewing legends that are Theakstons and Black Sheep brewery.

Railway entusiasts are spoilt for choice with a variety of historic railways & steam carriages to see and ride on. For those who prefer to stay on terra firma, The National Railway Museum, historic Minster and Yorvik Viking Centre are just an hour away in York. The elegant Georgian Spa town of Harrogate is just a half hour drive. Betty's Tea Rooms, chi-chi boutiques & Royal Baths are just some of the highlights.

The only dilema you are likely to have is where to start. Perhaps you will need to stay longer…
