The Yorkshire region

Situated in the heart of North Yorkshire, this rural delight is a must for walkers and anyone just wanting to "get away from it all". Enjoy the stress free atmosphere, surrounding natural countryside and stunning scenery.

Pateley Bridge

Nidderdale is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Edge Farm is ideally suited for walkers, as the Nidderdale Way runs along the back of the farm. There are many walks and bridleways in the upper dale and further up the valley are two reservoirs, Angram and Scar House, overlooked by Great and Little Whernside. Other neighbouring dales include Lower Wensleydale, Coverdale, Wharfedale and Uredale.

Lofthouse village is 3 miles down the road and has one pub, The Crown, which serves excellent food and ale. Local places of interest include How Stean Gorge, (known locally as Little Switzerland), with its bridges, caves and gorge walks and a café where lunches and snacks are served. Brimham Rocks, Stump Cross Caverns and the market town of Pateley Bridge are all worth a visit. Gouthwaite Reservoir is a sanctuary for rare bird species.

Slightly further away in Masham visitors can tour the two famous breweries, (Black Sheep and Theakston), each with a visitor centre. The National Heritage site of Fountains Abbey , Bolton Abbey , Otley, Ilkley, the spa town of Harrogate, Skipton, Ripon and the historical city of York are all within easy driving distance.
