On a hill overlooking Lake Trasimeno , La Quiete is a charming apartment situated in a 17th century olive mill and tower. The apartment has been recently tastefully restored to retain original features such as chestnut beams and a lovely brick arch. It has a generous sized living area with sofa bed and chair and a dining area for four people. The kitchen, with gas oven and fridge, is well equipped for self catering. The bedroom has a king sized bed with glass doors opening onto a private sun drenched terrace with breath taking views of the lake and a table and chairs. Guests are also invited to enjoy the 3000 square metre olive grove where they can sit and enjoy the serene water views. At La Quiete you can expect a very warm welcome from the Italian and English owners who live on the premises. With many years of experience in the hospitality industry and a wealth of knowledge about the area they can give sound advice on where to visit and where to find the best restaurants. Between them they speak Italian, English,French,German and Spanish!

The Umbria region
Umbria enjoys lovely weather from April through to the end of October. The Trasimeno area is steeped in history being originally populated by the Etruscans and the Romans. Historic sites and places close to Passignano include the beautiful university town of Perugia, Assisi,Cortona, Arezzo and Montepulciano. If you are planning a trip to visit Italy's main cities why not make a stopover between Florence and Rome to relax on the beaches of our beautiful lake away from the hustle and bustle or spend the last days of your holiday winding down before flying home from our no-stress airport at Perugia just a 25 minute drive!
Passignano sul Trasimeno area
The Trasimeno area was the scene of one of major battles of the classic period when Hannibal and the Carthiginians routed the Romans and this battle is commemorated every year. Passignano is a popular tourist town located on the northern shore of the lake. Tiny alleys run along 15th century houses rising from the shores of the lake to the towers above. It has clean beaches and frequent ferries to the islands. There are three islands, two with restaurants. Castiglione del Lago has a spectacular military fortess. There are a number of costumed festas and sagra food festivals throughout the summer season. The famous Umbria Jazz festival takes place every year in July, and in 2006 it attracted such names as Eric Clapton and Santana.
How to get there
Cheap flights available from December 20 with Ryanair flying direct from Stansted to Perugia. Also cheap flights from Europe to Rome, Pisa and Bologna. Hire car strongly recommended. Distance from airports - Perugia 30 mins, Rome 2 hours, Pisa 2 hours, bologna 3 hours. Good road access on autostradas

We loved this area, and had lots of fun swimming in the lake and making use of the speedboat for hire.(David and Linda Putman ( Yorkshire) We had a wonderful stay in Passignano. The apartment was lovely, very comfortable with lovely views of Lake Trasimeno. It was ideally situated for sightseeing in Umbria.Our stay was made all the more pleasant by our hosts Rachel and Decio, who couldn't be more welcoming and helpful.
