Visit quaint villages like St-Loup with it's great church, Chateau and riverside walks; Airvaullt has The Abbey chruch, underground fountain and pillared market hall, Gourge's ancient church and 11th cent brige. Local town Medieval Parthenay is on the Pilgrim's Way. Thenezay, 10 mins away has supermarket, petrol, bakery, bank, cashpoint, 2 bars, 2 restaurants, Sun. market.

This Region is one of the sunniest regions in France, said to be the region of fetes and festivals. An example of this is the nationally renowned 'Fete des Jeux' (Festival of Play) in Parthenay - held in early July and fun for all ages. Rich in History, people can trace 'The Pilgrim's Trail' and/or the 'Route of the English Kings' visiting Magnificence Abbeys, Churches and many Historic Places on the way. Take the walking trails marked in several colours in the ancient city of Poitiers to see the variety of places of interest. Enjoy the Chateaux of the Loire and taste the famous wine. Visit La Rochelle, one of the prettiest towns in France, and enjoy the beaches of the Silver Coast. For the family Furturoscope and Puy du Fou, two of the best Theme Parks in France are found here. See the 'Valley of the Monkeys' where they are on islands rather than behind bars and you can walk amongst the smaller species or see them playing the trees nearby. The Crocodile and Alligator Centre and Serpent Island are also available. Doue la Fountaine is the centre of rose growing in France where many rose growers ply their trade. Parthenay

Tucked away in the Deux Sevres is a gem called LEGRAND BOIS. Relax with a glass of wine by the pool – Great! Dine alfresco in the garden and enjoy the calm – wonderful.
