In the Cyclades, Paros is considered to be the island of light. This island is situated close to the centre of the Cyclades Island group. The main centre on the island of Paros is Parikia. It is the quaint charm and the history of the old town that draws many tourists to visit Paros Island.

Just 400 meters away from the port of Parikia lies the establishment of LA Selini, known formerly as Villa Stratos. We offer you a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. With a garden setting complete with trees of hibiscus and lemons we are just a 50 meter walk from the beaches of Livadia. Just footsteps away, you can immerse yourself in the Aegean Blue Sea immortalized in Greek Mythology. After your swim, you can get ready to dine or dance, under the Grecian moon, with the locals in the many seaside tavernas, cafes and clubs located near LA Selini or towards the port.

The Aegean Islands region

Paros has approximately 160 km (100 miles) of coastline so you may want a scooter, motorbike or car to get around. We cooperate with many fine agencies for your rental needs and can help negotiate fair and reasonable prices for you. For other modes of transportation you can use the taxi and bus systems, which are located next to the ferry terminal area. We can provide timetables and extra pick up locations upon request.

To travel to Antiparos Island there are two ferry locations. The first is located at the Pounta beach location and consists of a 5 minute ferry trip , for 3-8 €, every 20 minutes. The second way is a travel tour boat about 20 minutes long. It is located next to the port area.


Paros / Parikia area

He Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani (Our Lady of a Hundred Gates - otherwise known as Katapoliani) is the jewel of Paros Island and one of the most significant monuments of Christianity in Greece. It is situated near Parikia Port.

The Frankish Castle in Parikia was built in the 13th century, by the Duke of Naxos Marco Sanudo, during the Venitian Rule of the Island.

The Ancient Cemetery is located near the port of Parikia and is dated from the 8th to the 3rd century BC. The cemetery includes a variety of graves of many different types and from different eras.

The Sanctuary of Asklipios on Agia Anna Hill, located a short distance from Parikia, is the Sanctuary of the god of medicine, Asklipios.

The Delion Sanctuary located approximately 1 kilometer from Parikia, up on a hill. The temple was the place of worship of the god Apollo of Delios. The original structure was built in the 9th- 8th century BC. Later on, in the 5th century BC, a new temple dedicated to Artemis was also built.

The Church of Agios Canstantinos in Parikia is famous for its splendid architecture, its gilded, wood carved screen and unique Post-Byzantine icons.

The Monastary of Loggovardas was established in 1638 by the monk Paleologos. It is an impressive monastery, with splendid hagiographies and icons and it includes an excellent library.

The Three Post-Byzantine Churches - At close proximity to Parikia, on the road towards Naoussa, are the Three Churches (Tris Ekklisies). It is a copmplex of Post-Byzantine churches.

The Archaeological Museum in Parikia displays a variety of objects, from the Neolithic Era, the Archaic Period, the Classical Period and the Roman Era, such as pottery, marble idols, grave stones, inscriptions, marbles, etc.

The Ekatontapiliani Byzantine Museum in Parikia is housed in the Ekatontapiliani Church and has displays of inscriptions and ecclesiastical heirlooms.

Butterfly Valley in Psychopiana, approximately 6 kilometers from Parikia, is the finest natural site on Paros Island.

The Venetian Castle in Naoussa can be found at the northern edge of the port of Naoussa.

The Church of Agios Nikolaos in Naoussa - The little whitewashed church of Agios Nikolaos, situated at the fishing port of Naoussa, is the protector of the fishing boats.

The Ancient Marble Quarry is located in a small village in the centre of Paros Island and has a very special legacy; its ancient marble quarry dating back to the 3rd millenia BC.

Kefalos Hill is located in the traditional village of Marpissa.

The Ancient Shipyard in Drios is situated on the beach of Drios. Basically, they are deep grooves that are carved into large, wide rocks. In ancient times they were used as lifting devices and as shelter for ships.

The Mycenaean Acropolis is located in Koukounaries, above Kolymbithres Beach and was constructed in the 13th century BC.

The Church of Agia Triada in Lefkes is located on a hill above the village of Lefkes, is an impressive structure, made of exquisite Parian marble.

The Monastery of Agios Ionnis Kaparos is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from Lefkes village.

The Chapel of Agios Georgios Thalassitis in Logaras was built in the 13th century A.D.

The ''Skorpios'' Folklore Museum in Aliki contains a collection of miniature sailing boats, fishing boats and ships, constructed by the artist Benetos Skiadas.


How to get there

Paros is centrally located in the Cyclades Island group. You have two choices of ports to leave from Athens. The first port is Rafina, 20 minutes from the airport. This ferry can save you time and possibly an overnight stay in Athens. The second port, is called Piraeus Port which is on the other side of Athens by metro 45 minutes or you can take the bus from the airport. Usually, 1 out of 3 ferries that leave or return to Piraeus Port of Athens will stop in Paros. Depending on the ferry timetable, the time sailing is usually between 3 ½ - 5 hours.

There is air travel to Paros only through Athens airport to our small local airport. The company that most services this airport is Olympic Airlines. The flight takes about 30 minutes. The neighbouring islands of Mykonos and Santorini have many international flights and then you could ferry to Paros from there.

Close to the port and throughout the towns, there are numerous travel agencies that are willing to assist you in booking any tickets you may need. Most of the agencies have organized tours around Paros and other close islands.
