The Emilia Romagna region

In the heart of the beautiful chain of mountains "Apennino Tosco-Emiliano", we find the B&B "Cà Virgilio" in the Alta Valtaro, exactly at Gotra di Albareto (650mts high) in the province of Parma. It's an oasis of relac and silence, ideal place if you want to go away from the city and have a vacation rich of peace and pleasant activities.

Among these, nice walks being in contact with nature-you can spend a nice time in the enchanting woods. Or if you prefer to go by bicycle, is also possible.

The "Castle of Compiano", the"Castle of Bardi" are a must during your trip visiting the towns where the castles are.

Borgotaro is an enchanting small town,7kms from Gotra. It's here where some festivals are held. What really makes this place really fascinating and important, is the famous "fungo porcino"(a very tasty mushroom typical of this zone.

It's been nominated "IGP" (Protected Geographical Identification) This means that due to its characteristics, it's considered the best fungo porcino in all Europe!!

The Festival of this mushroom takes place in September (two weekends-third and fourth weeks) Albareto and Borgotaro welcome many visitors from all Italy and from other countries. You can taste all the various dishes that restaurants prepare for the occasion.

From Gotra, you can reach beautiful and important cities like "Massa Carrara" in Tuscany (150kms)- It's famous for its marble known all over the world.

"Le Cinque Terre" (five towns) in Liguria-about 80 kms is another must. These small towns are really enchanting by the sea. We advise you to have a nice romantic walk along the "Via dell'Amore"

Visiting all these places in this region, you will not miss others like Florence, Siena, Arezzo and others because all around Gotra, you will love these valleys, hills and mountains. They are to be discovered, admired amd loved. It's the ideal environment for painters, writers- or simply have a relaxing holiday surrounded by a beautiful and peaceful place.

Parma is a big city, 70 kms from Gotra. There are many places in and around this city. Some monuments to visit are the Cathedral, the Battistero, the Farmese Theater, the National Gallery, The Regio Theater and others.

What makes this place unique and known all over the world, is the production of the Parmesan Cheese and the Prosciutto di Parma (Ham) You can visit the place where they produce them and buy some. In this way, you'll go back home with an unusual souvenir!

Near Parma, you can visit the town where Verdi, the great musician, was born.
