Matisse provides you with a spacious living and dining area complete with comfortable linen sofas and dining for 6. There is a wireless bluetooth speaker system to enable you to listen to your favourite music, flat screen TV and free view satellite plus DVD player. DVD's are available on request at no extra charge. The light and airy kitchen is fully equipped to allow you to create mouth watering dishes to your heart's content from traditional French cuisine to sandwiches and salads. We have installed a dishwasher, washing machine, full size gas cooker, a fridge-freezer (to keep the white wine cool) a microwave and a programmable coffee maker so you can wake up to that fresh coffee smell in the morning.

The double French doors lead directly to your own private patio area with seating for 6 plus a BBQ to cook up those tasty steaks, juicy chops, succulent prawns or simple sausages and burgers. The 14m x 6m salt water swimming pool is just down the path and there are sun loungers placed around the pool for your use.

La Maison Grange is equidistant between Bordeaux and Cognac making this the perfect gite choice to leisurely explore the world famous Cognac and wine regions that are right on the doorstep. Whether you are with a group of friends or with the family there is something for all ages to enjoy. Heading 30 minutes south is the famous wine region of Pomerol. A little further and you'll find in St. Emilion, the Libournais appellations, or Cotes-de-Bourg. Less than 60 minutes and you'll be in the centre of Bordeaux. The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

The Dordogne is extremely Child-Friendly with lots to do for all ages and interests - it's not all castles, chateaux and history! If you want to keep them happy and occupied there's a broad range of 'day-trip' things to do, some even suitable for the occasional wet day. There are a host of activities for all the family from indoor and outdoor water parks with jet skis and quad bikes to messing about on the rivers in kayaks, fishing or riverboat trips. Horse and moutain bike riding are also available closeby.

A little further afield there are some of the best examples of prehistoric caves in Europe. The Dordogne region has literally hundreds of caves, many of them open for the public to visit. These caves (grottes in French) fall into two categories – caves that are famous for the prehistoric paintings they contain and caves that are more renowned for their rock formations – stalactites, stalagmites and other curious shapes formed by the effects of water over thousands of years.

The beautiful city of Bordeaux contains all the high street names along with the more exclusive designers but is also full of interesting architecture and history. The old quays on the waterfront (a world heritage site) are now home to a large range of "outlet" designer shops & well worth a visit.

Parcoul

Canoes, Kayaks & Mountain Bike Hire are a 5 minute drive away. Meandering along the Dronne river in a canoe or kayak is a delightful way to see the wildlife & very popular. Aubettere sur Dronne - 20 minutes drive

There is an assortment of Water Parks & Lakes closeby. Le Paradou Centre - 5 minutes walk - is a chalet holiday complex also catering for campers and is just a short walk from La Maison Grange. It offers a variety of family activities including crazy golf , trampolining, tennis and volleyball. The fresh water lake has a sandy beach with pedalos and toboggans with a water slide open from late July until the end of August. There is a seperate lake for fishing. The complex has a bar and restaurant, has weekly music nights and is open to non residents.

Le Pizou (20 minute drive) Night Markets are an unusual experience and a great opportunity to wander around the stalls, then select something tasty to eat from an array of regional dishes on offer, maybe duck, or steak, chips or crepes. Tables are set up for your use and there is always entertainment that goes on into the night. A great time can be guarenteed. Bring your own plates & cutlery & settle down at a table for the rest of the evening like the locals. Taste of real French life. - Highly recommended! Every Tuesday evening during July & August

"Ideal for a family"

We had a holiday booked with our son, his wife and their son from Australia. The dates were odd but we were helpfully accommodated and spent a week in comfort and the sunshine (mainly). Plenty for small children to do and many local towns and places to relax. The gite was well equipped and comfortable and plenty of space for all of us. We found all we needed and any problems were quickly resolved. Can recommend.

"Great times in the Dordogne"

Stayed here July this year, as soon as you arrive at La Maison Grange you are made so welcome by the owners John and Jayne. This was our second visit to this little gem in the Dordogne, there is lots to do in this area for all ages from site seeing, visiting the day / night markets, to more active adventures like canoeing and jet skiing. There's a great summer house with pool table, table tennis and table football and lots of books that you can borrow. The pool is fantastic, the kids love it and we enjoy relaxing and chilling round the pool, lovely and tranquil. It is a great family holiday, thoroughly enjoyable, ticks all the boxes not only for us but also our 2 children (aged 10 & 14). All in its a fab place to go I can see myself and the family returning again soon.
