Within a few minutes walking distance, you have all the amenities you need, supermarkets, boutiques, restaurants. Within the town square of Paralimni, you will find many cafes and local tavernas. Within 3km, you will be at Firemans Beach and a short walk along this coast you will find watersport facilities, boats and fishermen.

The Famagusta District
Famagusta District, a large part of the area, including most of the town of Famagusta, has been under Turkish occupation since1974. During the second phase of the Turkish invasion (14 August 1974), the town was completely evacuated by its population. Unlike other parts of occupied Cyprus, the Turkish army sealed off the town of Famagusta immediately after its capture and no-one has been allowed to enter since then. Thirty-three years on Famagusta remains a ghost town.
There are several “viewing points” at Dherynia from where you can see into the deserted town although this area is still out of bounds for visitors of any nationality. There are 3 separate viewpoint places at Dherynia from which to view Famagusta. Well worth a visit is Anita's viewpoint at Dherynia although all viewpoints are signposted along the main road through Paralimni.
Paralimni area
In the centre of Paralimni, you will find the main Church of St George for the area which is a must see. Within the town square, there are also many cafes and local tavernas, shops and boutiques.
Local events are often held in Paralimni such as fairs, traditional dancing, religious festivals and weddings.
A regular local bus service runs along the coastal strip from Paralimni to Ayia Napa. Buses also stop here to enable a visit to the capital Nicosia.
Nearby you will find Protaras (15 mins drive) with white sands and calm, warm, turquoise waters. It is the “tourist area” of Paralimni known for its windmills and its glorious beaches, it is a more family-oriented place than the nearby resort of Ayia Napa. Protaras boasts the beautiful Fig Tree Bay, golden sand and clear waters.
The hilltop church of Profitis Elias, a quaint church, floodlit by night overlooking the town can be found here offering superb views of the surrounding area. You will also be able to indulge in every watersport from scuba diving and snorkelling to paragliding. There is the “Yellow Submarine” ,“Glass Bottomed Boat” and the “Amazing Magic Dancing Waters” – kids will love them. There is also a water park to enjoy here and a larger one at Agia Napa.
There is plenty of night-life on offer but not on as busy a scale as Ayia Napa which is approximately 15 mins drive away.
Besides the well known night-life of Ayia Napa, it is actually a very nice place to visit. It is full of history, has a beautiful medieval monastery with gardens and an ancient church built in a cave which still stands today. There is a main square, with its fountain and seating areas beneath the trees. Every summer Traditional Dance groups give performances here with dancers, singers and musicians providing entertainment.
Along the length of the harbour, you will find many cafes and fish tavernas where you can have a lovely meal or just sit and watch the world go by.
There are many other places to visit such as Cape Greco (20 mins drive) situated in a national park, to experience the most amazing sunsets and appreciate the tranquillity and beautiful crystal clear sea. There are also ancient village churches to visit and Tavernas specialising in fresh fish cuisine. Potamos is home to a small fleet of fishing boats where you can have a relaxing lunch whilst watching the fishermen mend their nets before setting sail for the evening.
How to get there
Many airlines fly to Larnaca including Monarch, Cyprus Airways and British Airways. From Larnaca Airport it is a 45 minute journey along the Cyprus motorway to the doorstep of our property. Driving is on the left the same as the UK!
