The Famagusta District

The Famagusta district is on the east coast of Cyprus and due to the rich red colour of the fertile soil the area is often referred to as Kokkinohoria (Red Villages). It contains a variety of villages and towns and some of the best sandy beaches and turquoise sea the island has to offer. The waters are warm and clear with even tides and visibility reaches 30- 40 metres. Both seasoned and amateur divers will enjoy the dive sites in the area.

Some of the best snorkelling and diving can be found off Cape Greco, a 10 minute drive from the apartment. This area is dominated by Junipers and Pines and is an important bird watching spot especially during the migratory season. There are some fantastic rocky formations including an architectural looking arch and sea caves here. Popular with walkers and cyclists it has dedicated picnic and parking areas where you can relax and enjoy the spectacular views.

Children and the young at heart will love the two water parks in the area. The larger one “Waterworld” in Ayia Napa is Europe’s largest themed water park. The smaller one in Pernera, Protaras is more suited towards younger children.

The coastal resort of Protaras (a 10 minute drive away) is picturesque and provides well for the tourist. It is a lively family resort with many restaurants, pubs and clubs as well as an aquarium, mini golf and the water, light and sound spectacle that is the “Amazing Dancing Waters”. Plenty of lively night-life can be enjoyed in Ayia Napa (a 15 minute drive away) which also boasts some fabulous sandy beaches, water sports, a fishing harbour, a beautiful medieval monastery and the Marine Life Museum.


Paralimni area

The apartment is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Paralimni which is the largest town and administrative centre of Famagusta district. Paralimni is famous for its picturesque windmills and is the main venue for cultural events in the region. It is the perfect combination of a traditional village and cosmopolitan town.

It offers modern shops including Marks and Spencer, boutiques, traditional tavernas, cafe-bars and banks. The town square is dominated by two beautiful churches and has a play area on one side and cafe-bars on the other. Around the corner is the amphitheatre.

Closer to the apartment is a well stocked supermarket, church, 24 hour bakery, bus stop and at the end of the road is the friendly Alkionia Restaurant where you can relax and enjoy the traditional Cypriot food or just have a cocktail or two while soaking up the sun.

The coastal area of Kapparis is a short walk away and here you will also find local shops, and a selection of very good international restaurants, traditional tavernas and bars. The amenities are generally open all year round.

At the end of the main road, Kennedy Avenue, is the Famagusta Gulf View Point and Mini Zoo where you can see the “Ghost Town” of Famagusta. Kapparis is a peaceful and charming village with plenty of long sandy beaches, and secluded coves. The nearest beach to the apartment is Ayia Triada being less than 1km away. Kapparis is a well kept secret that is only just beginning to be discovered.

A path can be followed around the coast (the section between Cape Greco and Konnos Bay is particularly popular) which will take you across rocky coves and secluded beaches and you will see small churches perched high on the rocky landscape overlooking the sea.

The nearest airport Larnaca is 65km away. Paphos airport is a 2 hour drive away.

Direct flights to Cyprus are available from a number of UK airports and many good deals can be found on the internet. Please ask if you require any further information regarding flights.

The best way to explore Cyprus is by car. An excellent road network links the cities making distances short and easy. Car hire is available at the airport or if you prefer we can arrange for a local taxi to meet you and transfer you to our apartment.

This well appointed apartment is furnished to a high standard throughout.

The open plan living area has 2 leather sofas (including a sofa bed), coffee table, LCD Flat screen TV with satellite system and a DVD player. The dining area has a table with seating for 6 and the well–equipped kitchen has all the appliances that you would expect.

The bedrooms are spacious and have fitted wardrobes. The master has two bedside cabinets, the twin room has one.

The bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower.

There are air conditioning/heating units in the bedrooms and the living area. Dim out blinds are provided in the living area and black out blinds in the kitchen and bedrooms.

Leading from the living area to the front is a large private veranda where you can enjoy al fresco dining at the patio table which comes with 4 chairs and an umbrella.

There is a balcony at the rear leading from the kitchen which overlooks the shared pool. There is an allocated underground parking space for guests of the apartment to use.

A 25 % non refundable deposit is payable on confirmation of your booking, with the remaining balance due 8 weeks before arrival.

A refundable breakages/damages deposit of £100 is required when paying the balance and refunded within 2 weeks of departure subject to an inspection of the property.

You are responsible for arranging your own travel insurance.
