The Paphos District
Paphos combines ancient history with a cosmopolitan, modern tourist resort. The area by the coast is known as Kato Paphos and boasts a pretty little harbour and plenty of open air cafes and bars. Further inland is the old town of Paphos, known by the locals as Ktima. With its narrow streets, hustle and bustle, covered market and typically Cypriot atmosphere, it is well worth a visit. As a consequence, Paphos is on UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage list.
There are numerous archaeological ruins in Paphos such as the Tombs of the Kings and Christian Catacombs. If you want to get out and explore some fantastic scenery, take a trip to the Akamas, Polis, Latchi or even Troodos mountains. Skiing is available in Troodos Mountains situated approx 1 hour from Paphos from November to February.
The Akamas is an untouched part of Cyprus with unspoilt coastline and traditional fish taverns in stunning seaside locations. Troodos is of course the main mountain range in Cyprus, not many people know that in the winter you can ski.
Within a short driving distance are Aphrodite’s Rock, Baths of Aphrodite, Paphos Bird Park, Reptile park, Horse Riding, Hiking/Walking, Buggy Safaris, 4 x 4 Safaris, Coral Bay, Watersports and Sailing to name but a few. Paphos also boasts one of the best water parks in Cyprus.
Cyprus is famous as the birth place of the goddess Aphrodite, Venus in Roman mythology. She is known as the Ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty. Legend says that she emerged from the sea at Aphrodite’s Rock in a surge of sea foam.
Paphos / Konia area
The pretty and traditional village of Konia has fast become one of the most desirable and upmarket villages in the Paphos area. Just 15 minutes drive from Paphos airport and 3 km from the town centre and with many great amenities in between, it is easy to see why Konia has established such a reputation. The three main golf courses on the Island are within easy reach of Konia.
The quaint village centre is just 500m from the villa where you can get a taste of the local village life and benefit from the warm Cypriot hospitality. Konia Tavern is widely regarded as one of the best in Paphos where an evening of eating great food, drinking locally produced wine and up beat music can be enjoyed for a price which is more than good value to say the least.
15mins to golf, waterpark, Paphos beach and go-karting.
