The Paphos District
Once the capital of Cyprus, Paphos has a history that dates back thousands of years. Modern Paphos is split into two parts, the upper part being the old town known locally as “Ktima” and the lower town by the coast known as ‘Kato Paphos’. The upper part of the town contains the main commercial centre, shops and modern museums. The lower part of the town contains most of the historic sites.
Paphos is rich in ancient and natural sites which is reflected in the fact that it is included in the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites and many of these sites date back to the Roman ages.
Paphos / Tala area
Situated in the pretty village of Stephanie, at the foothills of Tala, the villa benefits from cooler and less humid air in the summer as it is situated on higher ground. The delightful Tala village square with its small selection of restaurants, tavernas and traditional coffee shops is within walking distance and standing proudly in the hills above the village is the imposing 12 th Century Monastery of Saint Neophytos. Both the well known sandy beach at Coral Bay and the town of Paphos with its selection of Heritage sites, shops and harbour area are approximately a 15 minute drive away.
