The Paphos District

There are pubs, clubs, tavernas and restaurants galore in Paphos as well as cycling, horse-riding, go-karting, hiking and a water-park. There are English-language cinemas in the town and concerts are held in front of the mediaeval fort and at the ancient Odeon. Paphos also has a number of fascinating museums and UNESCO World Heritage sites to visit.

There are several excellent wineries in the area that can be visited for free wine-tasting. Many monasteries and churches are accessible from Paphos, as are the Birthplace of Aphrodite, Aphrodite's Baths, Adonis Falls, reservoirs and mountain forests.

WORLD CLASS WATERPARKS - Despite it's dry Summers Cyprus can boast 5 world class waterparks with everything for the family for an exciting day out. Further information can be viewed on www.aphroditewaterpark.com website.

GOLF IN THE SUN - There are 3 championship 18 hole golf courses (par around 71/72) within easy reach. Tsada Golf club is 20 minutes drive from Paphos, Secret Valley golf course is about 20km east of Paphos and there is a new 5 start course, Aphrodite Hills slightly further on.

SKIING and SUNBATHING - Cyprus is one of the few countries in the world where you can sunbathe on the beach in the morning then go skiing in the afternoon. The website www.cyprusski.com will tell you all you need to know.
There is skiing and snowboarding from January to March on Mount Olympus in the Troodos Mountains, about 2 hrs drive from Paphos. If you are hardy, you can ski in the morning and swim in the sea in the afternoon!


Paphos / Kissonerga area

COASH/BEACH: Vardas Beach, which has sun loungers, umbrellas and a beach-side restaurant and coffee shop, is just 500 metres away. It is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, snorkelling and a number of water sports.

DISTANCES: Kissonerga is very conveniently located - just 10 minutes' drive to the tourist area of Paphos, less to the very popular Coral Bay. There's also a regular bus service to both places, with a bus stop just 400m away, for a flat fare of 70 cents. The apartment is 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Kissonerga village, which has a number of good restaurants, two small supermarkets, a bank and a pharmacy. There are more restaurants and bars within walking distance on the coast road.

KATO PAPHOS: is centred around the picturesque little harbour where you can watch the world go by in the open-air cafes and restaurants along the quayside; just across the water lies a 16th century Venetian fortress and if you are lucky you may even spot the resident pelican! A varied assortment of bars, discos and restaurants are available whilst Ktima (Old Town) is a maze of intertwining streets with shops and tavernas. The House of Dionysos, the ancient burial chambers at the Tombs of the Kings and the Byzantine castle are just a sample of the many fascinating historical sites worth a visit. The best sandy beach by far is Coral Bay Beach in Coral Bay, which is 5 minutes drive away from Kissonerga.

Other Tourist attractions such as Tombs of Kings, Paphos Harbour, Water Parks, Go-Karting and 3 Golf-Courses are nearby and should you decide to hire a car, the Akamas Pennisular, Turtle bay, the villages of Peyia, Pissouri, Tala and Latchi, the Birthplace of Aphrodite and Aphrodites Bath, famous Troodos Mountains and Adonis Bath are not to be missed.

Buses running very frequently/promptly take you to different beaches/locations in as little as 10 - 15 minutes.

Paphos Airport is 20 minutes drive away from the apartment.

Larnaca Airport is 90 minutes drive away from the apartment.
