The Paphos region

It’s what not to see in Paphos which will be the hardest decision! Historical gems lie hidden around virtually every corner and culture and history sit easily alongside the stunning scenery and delights of the modern and bustling resort, including a Water Park for family fun.

After a hard day’s sightseeing, the harbour of Kato Paphos, dominated by its fortress, is the place to take an evening promenade or enjoy a fresh fish meze, while the modern town boasts a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.

The famous crescent-shaped sandy beach of Coral Bay is just a short drive from Paphos and offers its own resort facilities, while inland villages such as Yeroskipou, famous for loukoumi, the Cypriot version of Turkish Delight, Kissonerga and Peyia welcome visitors with traditional Cypriot hospitality. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Paphos reveals treasures from just about every important historical period.

The Tombs of the Kings, dating back well over 2000 years, vouch for the wealth of Paphos in ancient times, while the Roman mosaics of Dionysus are equally impressive. Evidence of Christianity from its earliest days can be seen here in St Paul’s Pillar and the Catacombs of Ayia Solomoni, while elaborate churches from the later Byzantine period abound.

Cyprus is known for its meze, the seemingly endless stream of fish, meat or even vegetarian dishes. Nowhere better to sample this than the harbour area of Kato Paphos, while the resort centre also offers an enormous variety of cafes and restaurants, specialising in cuisines from all over the world.

Scenery

When the sea is as beautiful as it is, it’s tempting to find a beach and stay put. However, a drive into the mountains is well worth the effort. The landscape has been formed from centuries of earthquakes and dramatic rocky chasms are interspersed with gentler valleys and tropical vegetation.

The Troodos Mountains, which rise to nearly 2000 metres and offer welcome respite from the Summer heat, become snow-capped in the Winter and even offer ski-ing! An excursion into the rugged and undeveloped Akamas peninsula will also reveal some stunning and unspoilt scenery.

Paphos Town

Paphos boasts a Water Park, but water sports including windsurfing and water-ski-ing are also widely available at Coral Bay and other beaches of the area.

Golf is available at 3 courses within a 10 minute drive: Secret Valley, Minthis Hills (formerly Tsada) and a championship course at Aphrodite Hills within 20 minutes drive.

The intrepid may choose to take a jeep safaris across the Akamas Peninsula, or into the Troodos Mountains

"Spacious , comfortable - perfect for private and relaxing holiday"

Had a great time in June with the family in 5 bed spacious and comfortable air conditioned villa with everything at hand to make a great holiday.Large pool and very private location offering peace and tranquility.Coral Beech is only around 10 mins away ( Paphos 20 mins ) and village of Kissonerga around 5 minutes away with supermarket and bar ect.The genial and friendly owner Tasos will make you welcome and is always eager to please and we now class him as our friend.Apart from new table tennis table needed. we couldn't fault villa or facilities and have no hesitation in recomending as a little piece of paradise.

We look forward to returning again next year.

"Off the beaten track"

A very relaxing holiday in a fabulous villa right next to an orange grove. The owner gave us permission to pick fresh oranges every day which gave us the most fantastic orange juice every morning. Located high up, in a very rural area, peaceful and tranquil with fantastic views out to Coral Bay.
A car is essential although only a few miles down to the Supermarket and the main road from Paphos to Coral Bay.
The owners cannot be faulted for their attentiveness and cleaning. We have stayed in many Villas over the years and have never stayed in one that was cleaned so often with the changing of towels and sheets. Perfect for anyone who likes to be on their own.
