The Langkawi Island region

Langkawi Island is a breathtaking archipelago of 99 islands (5 extra temporary islands are revealed at low tide) in the Andaman Sea, 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia and adjacent to the Thai border.

In 2007, Langkawi Island was granted a World Geological Park status by UNESCO. It has been especially identified for its geological, archaeological and ecological heritage. The rock formations that abound in the archipelago have been estimated to be in the range of 400-500 million years old. Three of its main conservation area in Langkawi Geopark are Mat Chincang Mountain, Kilim Park and Pulau Dayang Bunting (Island of the Pregnant Maiden). These three parks are among the most popular nature attractions on Langkawi Island; the other being the Black Sand Beach.

How to get there

FLIGHTS
More than 8 flights daily from Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, to Langkawi Island with Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Air Asia. Tiger Airways, Air Asia and Silk Air also fly to Langkawi Island from Singapore.

FERRY
From Southern Thailand: 4 ferry services daily between the Langkawi town of Kuah and Satun, Thailand. For more info: www.langkawi-ferry.com/schedule.html

TAXIS
Taxis are easily available at Langkawi Airport. Pay for your taxi and obtain a coupon at the taxi booth near the exit.

CAR HIRE
Car hire is not essential to get around the Pantai Tengah area itself, but you will need to hire a car if you want to see other parts of the island.

There are two large master bedrooms each with a king-size bed, one upstairs and one downstairs. Both are luxuriously decorated en-suite rooms with high ceilings made of stripped woven bamboo. The third bedroom has a four-poster queen-size bed and the fourth bedroom has two single four-poster beds. The flooring is made of high-grade timber throughout. The furniture and furnishings are of a premium quality and made from a combination of Asian woods, wicker, jute, cottons and silks. All the bathrooms are tastefully designed, combining modern fittings with exotic touches.

Further details outdoors:
Spend the day swimming or watching the world go by from your deck chair on the beach. You can also have a scenic walk on the beach, instead of on the roadside, to reach other parts of Pantai Tengah.

Bath towels, beach towels and linen are provided. There is a local laundry service nearby for clothes.

Breakfast and barbeque dinner on the beach are only available subject to advanced notice and at additional charges.

Conditions

• A 30% booking deposit and the breakages deposit must be paid to secure your reservation (the amount is not inclusive of bank charges). Payment is to be made in Euros by bank transfer. The balance is to be paid 8 weeks before arrival. Bookings are on a 1st come with deposit 1st served basis.

• All bookings cancelled within 2 weeks before your arrival date will be non-refundable. Cancellations of 2-4 weeks before your arrival date are refundable minus a loss of your booking deposit. All other cancellations which are over 4 weeks from the arrival date are refundable minus a 1 night cancellation fee.

• A refundable breakages deposit of €500 is required, which will be refunded within 2 weeks of your departure date if no damage is done to the property and there are no missing items.

• Check-in is at 3pm. Check-out is at 11am.

• No smoking except in the garden.
