The Goa region
Goa is situated on the west coast of India and has over 100 Kilometres of coastline divided between secluded bays and golden sandy beaches lapped by the warm Arabian sea. The weather is fairly consistant between October and April with sunshine with temperatures that rarely go below 91F.
Most people come to Goa for a relaxing holiday but there is more to Goa than that but the choice is yours.
Here are a some ideas of the different activities Goa has to offer:
Goa was ruled by the Portugese for 450 years and this interesting blend of Portuguese and Indian culture is evident in its architecture; religious diversity; cuisine and social structure. It is worth visiting the magnificent Mansion Houses built at the height of the Portuguese rule along with Old Goa( the old capital), built as a testament to the Portuguese wealth and power.
There is a wildlife sanctuary with over 400 different species of birds; several markets including a famous flea market which attracts sellers from all over India and many designer shops.
You can visit the Christmas and the Easter Carnival and enjoy some real Goan-style dances. The spectacular Hindu festivals of Divali and Holi are celebrated with as much enthusiasm by this multi-cultural and well-integrated society.
Watch the sun rise over the river Mandovi; stand at Chapora harbour and select fish for that evening's meal; go to a village festival or Zatra and most of all, meet the people who are fun loving, generous and genuinely want you to have a great holiday.
Panjim area
Panaji is the capital of Goa, the smallest of all the capitals in India. The old quarters of Panaji are perfect for a leisurely stroll through the winding narrow streets. Painted buildings, shuttered windows and overhanging balconies are a pleasant sight. Modern houses, gardens, statues and avenues lined with a variety of trees are also part of Panaji's scenery.
The heart of Panaji is the Church Square or Municipal Garden with Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, originally built in 1541. Other tourist attractions include Idalcao Palace from the 16th C, the Hindu Mahalaxmi Temple, the Jama Masjid mosque and the Fontainhas area.

Why rent an apartment rather than stay in a hotel? Privacy and Comfort 1. An apartment offers you, your family and friends more space, more comfort, more informality, more privacy, and more personalized service than any hotel. The whole apartment is there exclusively for you, and you don't have to share anything with other tourists.
Better Value 2. Renting an apartment can be much better value. When calculated on a per bedroom or per person basis and considering all the 'extras' you'd have to pay for in a hotel, an apartment vacation is often much cheaper than staying at one ! of the better hotels or resorts. Expenses for drinks, snacks and laundry etc. are very low, while in a hotel they can easily double or triple your spending money.
Home Comfort 3. Even more important, taking an apartment vacation is like relaxing in your own private home in Goa.
