The resort is an upmarket family resort with lots of restaurants and is a great place to spend a sunny summer holiday relaxing in the unspoilt beauty of the Rhodope mountains. The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Pamporovo is a modern resort built within spectacular pine forests within the historic Rhodope Mountains. The beautiful Rhodope Mountains have many claims to fame in history and the mythical singer Orpheus is believed to have lived there. There may be something in the air as many of the locals live to be 100+ (they manage to maintain a reputation for friendliness, cooking and singing for all that time too), or it may be just because this claims to be Europe's sunniest ski resort, averaging 270 sunshine days annually. Pamporovo is also known for its excellent skiing, shopping and lively après ski. It has an exclusive climate featuring a ‘soft’ winter with about 120 sunny days during the skiing period. Pamporovo sees the significant influence of The Aegean Sea (Pamporovo is only an hour away from the Aegean coast when a new road is completed) with the ski season lasting from mid-December to mid-April.
Pamporovo is situated 83 km from the city of Plovdiv and 240 km from the capital Sofia. There is a regular bus line connecting to both of these cities and both have airports.

Rich selections of excellent leisure time opportunities are available in Pamporovo. Activities available to the weary skier include toboggan rides, bowling, archery, indoor swimming pools, saunas and gyms. There are shopping Arcades for souvenirs, sporting goods and numerous fashionable boutiques.
Pamporovo has a large choice in night-life opportunities with its many night-clubs bars and discos. The ski carnivals and ski shows are great fun too. Guests of Pamporovo would be well advised to try the original cuisine of the Rhodope region and the world-famous Bulgarian wines, which are usually accompanied at the different taverns by excellent folk groups performing lively, centuries-old dances.
There are scenic tours for seeing the Rhodope Mountain on foot, as well as opportunities to visit some interesting tourist attractions, such as: Pedestrian routes to the top of Rojen and the Smolyan Lakes; Trips to the Stoykite village and the picturesque rocks of Orpheus; Visits to the ancient town of Chepelare and the only Speleological Museum in Bulgaria, Smolyan and the Shiroka Laka architectural, ethnographic and folklore preserve; trips to the centuries-old Bachkovo Monastery and to history-rich Plovdiv, founded millennia ago by Philip Makedonski; Trips to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria and to the Rila Monastery - the most impressive monument of the Bulgarian Renaissance; Trips to Gabrovo and the open-air ethnographic museum Etura, to Veliko Tarnovo - the city of the Bulgarian Tzars, and many, many others.
How to get there
You have a choice of two airports Sofia international airport whichg is about 3 hours drive, motorway and then mountain road or you can fly to Plovdiv international airport which is 1 hours drive up the mountain to Pamporovo. There are a number of charter flights that fly direct to plovdiv from the UK. Once in Pamporovo locate the "Pamporovo Church" which is opposite the "Pamporovo Hotel" and the private drive to the "Royal Lodge Casino & Spa Resort" is clearly sign posted. About 800 metres down the private road.

Further details indoors: Due to its 5 star rating the apartments are very luxurious with two large bedrooms, one with two single beds and one with a very large double bed, the apartments are furnished to a 5 star hotel standard with all the usual mod cons. They can be used as a self catering apartment or one can dine in the developments choice of restaurants.
The apartment has two balconies and dual aspect south and east facing providing lovely views over the Rhodope mountains.
Further details outdoors: The location is quiet and set amongst the pine forest offering stunning voews of the area, there is secure parking and an ice skating rink for fun skating. The Royal Lodge has been built to a very high standard and is aesthetically appealing.

The development can be used like a hotel with food served in the restaurants or even brought to the apartments or fully self catering. WiFi in operation and all usual business services i.e fax, computers, telephone service. Spa facilities such as massage and steam room are at an additional cost paid direct to the operator at time of use.
