Palma is the capital city of the Island of Majorca, and is located on the southern coast of this island in Spain, and is the island´s main economic and cultural resource. Recently, it was named as one of the best places to live in Spain.
Although it has become a modern, bustling city, Palma has managed to retain its ancient culture and charm, most of which can be seen in the old town.
Palma’s old town spreads out from the cathedral and turns into a maze of narrow winding streets, surrounded by impressive mansions and tiny hidden squares.
The best way to see the old town is on foot. It can easily be seen in a day and there are plenty of quite little squares and parks where you can stop off for tapas and drinks along the way.
Some of Palma’s top attractions include; the Royal Palace; the Stock Exchange; the Castle of Bellver; and the spectacular cathedral, which is one of the world’s finest and largest Gothic structures. They’re all located near the port.
Palma has every kind of entertainment imaginable; cinemas, theatres, operas, rock concerts… there’s something here for everyone. It also has thousands of bars and some excellent restaurants, serving all kinds of food.
