The Mallorca/Majorca region
Mallorca is situated in the western part of the Mediterranean Sea and is the main island out of the four that form the Balearic Islands. Due to its mild climate with about 300 days of sun per year, a unique nature and numerous beaches, Mallorca is a very popular travel destination. You will find long, sandy beaches as well as mountains, valleys and rocky bays on the island. There are bigger cities like Palma, Manacor, Inca and Alcudia as well as quieter little bays and villages such as Canyamel, Formentor and Valldemossa. The varieties in nature, attractions and cultures make Mallorca the ideal holiday destination for families and experienced travellers alike. There is always something new to discover, from the historic capital to sleepy seaside towns and beaches.
The Santa Catalina area is located across the river from the famous shopping street Jaume III, to the left of the Avenida de Argentina. You would not be more than minutes away from all the action in the heart of the city, in an area packed full of exciting restaurants and bars. There is something for everyone here, from Asian fusion to traditional Spanish food on to American-style diners.
There are plenty of museums nearby as well, among them the contemporary art museum with a fantastic view of the seafront. The cathedral is not to be missed either! In the area around the cathedral, Plaça Mayor and Jaume III is also where you go for a Palma shopping experience.
