The Mallorca/Majorca region

The apartment is situated within a private residential complex in the Son Caliu area of Palma Nova, east of the main resort and quieter. It is a 20-minute taxi journey from airport (15km) where hire cars are also readily available and cheap.

From the apartment it is an easy 3-minute walk from the pool terrace to the charming, quiet , which is little known except to local residents, and safe for children. The main Palma Nova resort area with its long, fine sandy beach is also no more than a pleasant stroll away.

Palma Nova is a lively and bustling seaside resort that remains very popular with families.

The hugely popular resort of Palma Nova and its nearest neighbour Magaluf, are the largest resort developments of the municipal district of Calvia, and is situated on the south west coast of the island, approximately 15km or 10 miles west of Palma, and the Son Sant Joan International airport.

Sitiated just a short walk is the lovely marina of Portals (one of the most exclusive in the med) with a vast selection of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.

"Nice area, would return!"

On arrival we were met by Derek who I gather looks after the place. He let us in & we were not happy as the walls which were white had grubby marks on the corners. The furniture looked dated & some I … More

Thanks for your comments and I can confirm that the apartment will be getting a new fully fitted kitchen this spring (2014) in time for summer bookings. We will also replace some of the older furniture (like the drawers you mentioned) and the flat will get a fresh lick of paint in the process. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks, James

"Tired property"

Sorry about your experience - this isn't typical of the feedback we usually receive. Internally there was an issue with the electrics meaning that the air-con was temporarily run on an extension but this was quickly fixed. There are usually loungers available in peak season to rent by the pool. All the bedding, towels and pillows were new in 2013.

"Well located for winter six week stay."

Following Debbie's instructions we contacted Derek as we left the airport and met at the Olivia Apartments for access and keys. The apartment met our needs bearing in mind we spent more time in it, being a winter break. The south facing open balcony was a suntrap on the many fine days we had and the west facing enclosed balcony became our quiet reading room for those who did'nt want to watch TV in the lounge.

A large and well stocked supermarket is very close by with, even at this time of the year, a number of bars, restaurants and cafe's open. A taxi rank within 100 metres allowed us (four adults) easy access to Palma and resorts further south west. Good bus services are also available with a stop close by.

A pleasant ten/fifteen minute walk into Palmanova.

"clean,basic,well located,family friendly,residential apartment block."

Debbie was very informative and as far as payment etc all was straight forward. On arrival at the Olivia complex We were welcomed by a gentleman named Derek who was very friendly and handed over the key and showed us around the apartment.Olivia is actually in Son Caliu which is a small resort at the quietest end of Palma Nova furthest from Magaluf. Apartment had everything you need for a self catering holiday, electric hob,utensils,microwave etc. It is on the 2nd floor on the corner of the residential block. It has a big south facing balcony that gets the sun all day long. You can sit and watch the cruise ships passing as it has a sea view too! The Olivia is a residential apartment block with a variety of people staying there including spanish families living there, ex pats, long and short stay holiday rentals, people who work in Palma Nova for the season rent studios in the block etc .It is an old block and on arrival looks just that but please dont let this put you off as the pool is newly refurbished and very large and never too full. There are english,scottish,irish and welsh couples and families who stay and live at the Olivia. It has all you need but without the reps! Olivia residents are welcoming and will give you any local information. There is a pool side bar and just outside block there are about 6/8 restaurants and bars with reasonable priced food. Coopers bar is very family friendly with internet access and karaoke nights etc. It takes 10 mins to walk to Palma Nova beach you go out the poolside entrance( It is a walk through side streets etc but someone will no doubt tell you the way).There are various ways but either way takes 10 mins then you end up on La Carihuela beach which is the quietest of the 3 Palma Nova beaches. Palma Nova is a family friendly resort. Opposite the Olivia is the Mercadona supermarket which is a huge store catering for your needs. It is not an expensive store and all the locals shop there. They sell chickens on the spit etc too.There is a lovely coffee shop there great for your morning coffee.The apartment is ideal for a cheap,quiet,basic,central but relaxing area. Near the block is the 5 Star Mardavall resort that costs a fortiune to stay at, 4 star Hotel Son caliu is just across the road too. There is a cove there called Son Caliu but you have to enter the sea via pool steps i would recomend the flat 10 mins walk to Palma Nova beach. Bus stop out side mercadona very cheap takes you to Palma , Magaluf,Palma Nova western water park etc...Very much enjoyed our stay.

"excellent"

Stayed at olivia appartments with my husband and two teenage daughters, Lovely appartment with air conditioning in main bedroom and lounge, Lovely pool but no sun loungers, There were a couple in the appartment but they were broken, The appartments are in a nice area, There is no reception in the complex as most of the appartments are privately owned, we were met at the appartment by Derek, who gave us the key. Pretty quite but palmanova and magaluf are about a 20 to 30 minute walk away and taxis are quite cheap if you are not into walking, Big supermarket just across the road and lidl is a 10 min walk away, we had a great time and would definately stay there again

Thanks for yoru comments, we have replaced the sun loungers now and are very pleased you enjoyed your stay at the apartment. I have 2 kids and we holiday at the apartment every year (the kids love it) and the marina at Portals is a great place to eat, drink and spend money!
