The Balearic Islands region

Mallorca, my home, my paradise and the paradise of anyone wanting to explore a small island that looks and feels like another world. A beautiful island with wonderful beaches, amazing mountains and old traditional towns of stone houses lost between the mountains. An interchange of cultures in our history, from the Muslim to the european invasions through the medieval age. Find here old churches and historical luxury palaces, traditional celebrations with demons fireworks and fire shows throughout summer. Find this and much more all in one island, enjoy our sun and blue skies from April to late October. Find out more in our official Mallorca website: www.seemallorca.com

Palma de Mallorca

El Terreno is a district of Palma de Mallorca. It is situated right next to the natural park of Bellver Castle. El Terreno is a along 19 century like a residential village next to Palma, for the highest society families. The Bellver Castle, alongside the Cathedral of Santa Maria, is probably the most visited monument in Palma and it is the only circular castle in Spain, built in the 13th century to protect the mallorquin population against the Muslim attacks. In present days the use of the castle is more artistic with important classical music concerts.

5 minutes walk from El Terreno, you will have the possibility to adventure yourself in the Bellver natural park or down the sportive harbour, where you can also choose from a wide selection of restaurants and cocktaileries to entertain your evenings. From the harbour you can also join daily water activities such as the visiting of the protected natural reserve of the Cabrera Island with dolphins and interesting wildlife.

The town centre is only at 5 minutes walk from El Terreno where you can tour the beautiful majorcan patios, the old palaces, many medieval churches, shopping malls and open air markets, terrace bars and art museums.

Porto Pi Centro (shopping and entertainment centre)

portopicentro.es/eng/

Five mins by car or bus you can easily reach “Porto Pi Centro”, the biggest shopping and entertainment centre in Palma. Porto Pi Centro is a four storey building of which two open air floors with terraces right next to the “Puerto Deportivo” (Marina). Porto Pi Centro is perfect for teenagers to play bowling, go to the movies, to join main activities in the various recreation rooms, there are all sorts of shops, bars, ice cream shops, Mc Donald’s, clothing shops and much more.

Paseo Maritimo (Seaside Promenade)

The Palma bay is only three mins walking from Casa Bellver and the “Paseo Maritimo” (Seaside Promenade) is great to walk in the evenings to enjoy the sea views and its many bars, ice cream shops and restaurants. Children and families can rent bicycles to ride the 5 Km long Paseo Maritimo.

Beaches

Next to the “Porto Pi Centro” shopping centre, and ten minutes from Casa Bellver towards the west, is the beach of Cala Mayor, and thereafter all the other beaches like Illetas, Illetas Militar, Portals, Portals Nous, Palma Nova, San Matias, Magaluf and so on amazing beaches all around the island.

Cala Mayor Beach

Cala Mayor is the first beach and here is the Calanova Sailing School

http://calanova.caib.es/sacmicrofront/contenido.do?idsite=905&cont=21435&lang=ca&campa=yes

which is where I learnt sailing myself some time ago. The school organize classes for both children and adults and their lessons are very flexible, you can pay lesson by lesson or buy 10day vouchers if you prefer. You can choose from a long list of activities, from sailing, surfing, swimming pool and gyms.

Sea Trips

AttractionCatamarans.com

organizes sailing trips along the coast but many other companies in Mallorca organize sea trips and their offices are to be found along the “Paseo Maritimo”.

Dear Guests of Ours,

A big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your stay at CasaBellver on TripAdvisor, one of those sites we can all trust.

As mentioned earlier, by culture, or by heart, we greet our visitors with the same enthusiasm and care as we greet our best friends, and their comfort is simply extension of our own daily happiness.

We understand that getting ready for holidays can be a tiring task. If you have children then you also have to make sure all of you bring what is needed. Leaving your home and belongings safely and in order for the time you are absent, rushing to the airport and flights that not always work as smoothly as we would hope to. So it is not uncommon to greet visitors at our doorstep who simply need to switch off and wind down possibly after a difficult journey. My mother and my sisters always take care that you find the fridge ready with those fresh fruits, bread, milk and other essentials, so that you don't need to rush out again for the first supermarket visit and your holiday can now start in peace.
A big THANK YOU also to my Mama.

You are quite right to point out that it's quite hilly. The Bellver Castle (Bell-ver means Beautiful-views) is located on top of a hill, and not only for defence reasons, but because the views from here are spectacular (I am being humorous here :). If you have a car it is not a problem, but let me point out that even if you don't have a car and you are using public transports, the hilly walking distance from the bus stop to our doorstep is literally a healthy 'two' minutes exercise. Definitely not a 20 minutes hike! I promise.

I am sorry for any difficulties you have encountered with parking your car, but also glad to hear that you got used to it. For many of us in Mallorca is simply a normal way of life to park you car on a different spot every day. We understand you because we live in Scotland and here in UK car spaces are often numbered and allocated to specific residents, which would definitely make things much easier if a similar culture could be adopted in Spain.

With regards to the amount of sunshine our garden/riad is exposed to, again thank you for sharing with us and potential new guests this important point. We would like to take advantage here to explain that the pictures of the sunny garden were taken in June. You visited us in February which is when the sun is at its lowest and the days also the shortest of the year. The opposite would have been experienced in the summer season when the sun is at its highest and the days are longer. From May to September the garden does get sunshine from late morning to mid afternoon. But thank you for pointing this out. It was a good point to make.

Thank you again for your precious comments and bright rating. We also would be, like you, definitely happy to see you back in our island of magic and soon.

Best wishes,
Javi & Denis

"A warm welcome awaits guests at Casa Bellver"

We arrived at Casa Bellver on a late October evening and the hosts thoughtfully provided food items for a meal as well as to help make the first couple of days comfortable.
We were welcomed by family members who lived in other parts of the house and given a quick guided tour of the local residential area, shown nearby supermarkets, bus stops and the promenade by the shore.
We loved the traditional accommodation and the beautiful courtyard garden. Basic toiletries were provided as well as washing machine tabs and plenty of toilet paper! The family in the house were respectful but attentive to our needs. Some spoke English but appreciated the efforts by one of our party to speak Spanish (should have been Catalan...).
Castell de Bellver is just up the road (plus 500+steps). The castle is well worth a visit and the views from the climb and the castle itself are fabulous. A walk into the centre of Palma takes 30-40 minutes, following the shoreline promenade. We enjoyed exploring the maze of medieval streets and squares in the centre of the city.
We decided to rely on public transport during our visit to Mallorca. Bus services in Palma are excellent. We were able to use buses and trains to get to other parts of the island, but it is a good idea to check times and stops to ensure you can get back to Palma the same day!

We were very happy to read your sincere words of appreciation.

As mentioned earlier, by culture, or by heart, we greet our visitors with the same enthusiasm and care as we greet our best friends, and their comfort is simply extension of our own daily happiness.

Public transport is indeed very efficient in our island and if you intend relying on public transport through your holiday in Mallorca, we will be very happy to help you with supplying our visitors with up to date timetables, connections and we will assist you, if needed, to make sure you find also your way back to Casa Bellver ('Casa' in Spanish means 'Home') in time and safely.

Casa Bellver is named after the nearby famous Bellver Castle and its natural park. Entrance to the park is literally 3 minutes walk from our doorstep. We consider this park as an extension of our own private garden/riad because when you stay at Casa Bellver you can satisfy your mood for a walk in the woods as often and as easily as opening the door of your own back garden.

Thank you again for your inspiring words of appreciation and hope to see you back in our island of magic soon.

Best wishes,
Javi & Denis

"Highly recommendation"

We spent 11 days in Casa Bellver, and were delighted by house, location and hospitality of owners. House is clean, sleeping rooms are in coolder part of house so you don't need an air condition. … More

Thank you so very much for your kind words and precious further information.

As opposed to modern housing, Casa Bellver is an historical building conceived at times when AC (Air Conditioning) was not common mainstream. At those times other solutions were in place in order to create naturally fresh and cool environments even through the hottest seasons. This probably explains how at Casa Bellver AC is not required. Walls are very thick (around 4 feet thick, that is around one meter) and the heat of the summer finds it really hard to penetrate these walls. Furthermore the bedrooms are located in the lower floor, at the same level of our riad/garden where the feeling of freshness under the shade of our vegetation is unbeatable.

Location wise, again thank you for your precious and useful comment. Casa Bellver is strategically well positioned as it is halfway between Palma's best beach (Cala Mayor) and Palma's town centre, which allows access to the best of both worlds, our nature and our town.

By culture, and by heart, we greet our visitors with the same enthusiasm and care as we greet our best friends, and their comfort is simply extension of our own daily happiness.

Thank you again for your inspiring words of appreciation and hope to see you back in our island of magic soon.

Best wishes,
Javi & Denis
