Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 5
The Den has a spacious feel and is ideal for a family, or two couples holidaying together, yet is cosy for just two people. It is very well equipped and is like a 'home-from-home'. It is maintained to a very high standard of cleanliness and to ensure this we never have a changeover of visitors on a single day. We are quite flexible about lengths and dates of a stay.
Palgrave is a small Suffolk village with a number of interesting old houses, an ancient church and a well-treed green with a duckpond. There are footpaths all around & a large heathland 'The Ling' nearby.
A few minutes' drive brings you into Diss, a fascinating old town built around the Mere, a six-acre lake, with medieval houses & cobbled yards and a Friday market; there are three supermarkets at the edge of the town & numerous places to eat.
Holidays at The Den provide the opportunity to visit the 'sights' of Norfolk & Suffolk: for children the local zoo, the steam museum, 'Go Ape' adventure course at Thetford Forest and Pleasurewood Hills at Lowestoft are some of the more popular. Adults may enjoy bird-watching, visiting museums - especially of aviation -, castles & churches, the coastal areasof Norfolk & Suffolk and the many characterful small market towns with interesting shops, boutiques, pubs & restaurants.

The East Anglia region
Norfolk and Suffolk are largely rural areas, many parts of which appear almost unchanged since medieval times. Being right on the Norfolk Suffolk border, The Den offers easy access to both counties.
Suffolk Heritage Coast stetches from Lowestoft southwards for 40 miles and includes Southwold with it's sandy beaches, Aldeburgh with its Festival in June, Dunwich, a once thriving city mostly lost to the sea in the 14th century, and Snape with its famous concert hall at The Maltings.
Norfolk is described as the 'birdwatching capital of the UK', while Suffolk has an important nature reserve at Minsmere. In addition there is much to do and see, with many sites of historical interest, a superb coastline, the Broads for boating, a cathedral city and many ancient market towns.
There are a number of aviation museums in the vicinity, reflecting the large number of USAAF bases in the region in WW2; at Duxford is Europe's premier aviation museum, the Imperial War Museum.
East Anglia is one of the driest regions of the UK, generally having warm summers and low rainfall.
The old market town of Diss has a wide selection of shops, from supermarkets to family butchers, bookshops & boutiques and even a small department store; there is an excellent tourist office in Mere Street.
Every Friday there are antique and other Sales at Diss Auction Rooms (www.twgaze.com) and a market in the town centre. Here you'll find a bit of 'old England' and hear broad country accents as people arriving on buses from the outlying villages meet together.
There's a park with a children's play area, a public swimming pool and a golf course. The mainline railway station at Diss offers a fast service to London.
Close by at Bressingham is Blooms' Nursery and Steam Museum, and also nearby is Banham Zoo with over 1000 animals in 35 acres.

"HOME AWAY FROM HOME - WANT TO STAY AGAIN!"
After a long flight from Australia with a 1 year old, it was great to meet Margaret and Terry who showed us around and had coffee and cake on arrival. The house exceeded our expectations in every way. The photos don't do it justice!
The Den is located 2 min drive to the market town of Diss, where there is everything you need. Larger towns like Norwich City are only a 30 min drive away (nice scenic drive).
As we were travelling with a 1 year old, the Den had everything we needed for him.
Margaret & Terry are very thoughtful hosts, and really do look after their guests extremely well. We were sad to leave but hope to one day return again soon! Have already recommended The Den to our friends and family.

"GREAT HOUSE,GREAT LOCATION,GREAT OWNERS"
I stayed here with my wife and three children for a family wedding in Diss..
All i can say is what a lovely house in a great location and close to all local amenties.
We injoyed staying here,The house is very clean and tidy.
The house was a great size for the five of us with the added benfit of the ensuite which came in very handy.
Also we stayed there in September and the house was very warm and cosy and we felt like it was our home and not a holiday rental.
The owners were very very friendly and nothing was to much trouble.
THANKS AGAIN FOR A SMASHING STAY AT THE DEN.
MR & MRS SMITH.

"Lovely home from home"
The Den was really impressive, clean, very comfortable with everything you would have at home. We arrived with 3 children and the dog and I was so pleased to find everyone catered for. Margaret (home owner) was very welcoming and helpful in thinking about a welcoming pack (milk and treats etc). There were toys and books for the whole family, the ensuite was perfect for us parents whilst the kids had their own bathroom and a large down stairs toilet perfect also.
The garden was perfect for the dog (enclosed) and joining to the garage so we didn't need to lead her to get her into the car.
It's a great place for walks and sightseeing, located in the middle of everything, we loved it and will be returning again.

"We Wish We Lived Here!"
What a fabulous home! I can't call it just a house because we truly felt at home the moment we walked through the door. Despite having to put up with any number of questions from us before we arrived Margaret was even more gracious when we finally met her in person and we were made to feel like old friends from the moment she greeted us.
The house itself is in a delightful position on the edge of a beautiful, peaceful country village with flint-faced Church, green and even a duck pond! If you dream of peace, quiet and tranquil countryside living, then this is everything you could wish for, but at the same time it is not more than 5 minutes from shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants catering to every need.
It was the perfect central location for exploring Norfolk and Suffolk and we just wished that we could have stayed for longer. We have never before returned to the same holiday accommodation, but I can honestly say that this time "we'll be back!"
Thank you very much for everything, Margaret, the little personal touches turned a terrific holiday into an even more wonderful memory!

"Excellent In All Respects."
A Lovely Modern 3 bedroom Semi.Lots of Attention to Detail by the owners with quality Furnishings, also lots of little extras to make you feel welcome, could'nt praise the owners high enough.Ideally situated, less than 5 minutes from Diss & ideal for Norwich,Ipswich the coast & Suffolk/Norfolk Countryside.A little road noise at night but that was only a minor point as was the slightly noisy neighbours & their children.Overall Excellent & well worth the money.

"Perfect stay - everything we needed and more"
We had a fabulous few days at "The Den". Arrival and collection of keys went very smoothly and Margarettook the time and trouble to show us tothe property and show us where everything was, and had also put out a cream tea for us!!! Yummy.
The property was in a perfect position for exploring the Suffolk and Norfolk area and we enjoyed days out to Southwold, Thetford, Bressingham Gardens and 100th Bomber Memorial Museum.
The local village had a variety of restaurants/pubs/shops/supermarkets, all of which were within walking distance.
What more can you want from a base.

"Very Lovely, Very Well Equipped House"
I stayed at The Den with my husband and 2 year old daughter for 8 days in July 2012.
The house and garden is lovely. The house is a great size and was very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. We even had use of the garage which came in handy.
The owners are a very welcoming couple who were accommodating to our needs. There were also many thoughtful extra touches to make our stay a great one.
The location was good and not far from the main Norfolk/Suffolk roads. I walked into Diss on a public footpath one day and there is a good choice of supermarkets to pick up your groceries.
I would certainly recommend this property with a good home from home feel.
