The apartment is located in the ancient baronial mansion built in 1530 by Prince Alessandro Colonna.

Since the thirteenth century until 1622 Gallicano nel Lazio was almost continuously a fief of the powerful Colonna family. In 1501 it was conquered by Cesare Borgia, but already in 1503 it returned to the original owners. In 1622 the principality passed to Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi, Archbishop of Bologna, nephew of pope Gregory XV, who visited in the same year the country celebrating a mass in Sant'Andrea's Church. In 1633 Gallicano passed to Rospigliosi Pallavicini family.
