The apartment has a large living room with fireplace and sofa bed for two persons, one double bedroom, one bathroom, a kitchen and a large terrace.

The apartment is located in the ancient baronial mansion built in 1530 by Prince Alessandro Colonna.

Since the thirteenth century until 1622 Gallicano nel Lazio was almost continuously a fief of the powerful Colonna family. In 1501 it was conquered by Cesare Borgia, but already in 1503 it returned to the original owners. In 1622 the principality passed to Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi, Archbishop of Bologna, nephew of pope Gregory XV, who visited in the same year the country celebrating a mass in Sant'Andrea's Church. In 1633 Gallicano passed to Rospigliosi Pallavicini family.

Gallicano is about 34 km from Rome, 19 Km from Tivoli, 17 km from Frascati, 9 Km from Palestrina.

The links are guaranteed by regional bus line. However I recommend you to have your own transportation.

You can reach Rome in about 45 minutes.

The strategic location of Gallicano allows you to organize an alternative holiday full of charm.

Lovers of art and archeology can follow the route of the ancient Roman aqueducts or the famous Via Francigena, along the old Via Prenestina. Moving a little further you may visit Villa Adriana in Tivoli or the Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia in Palestrina.

In a short time you can walk through the gardens of Villa d'Este and Villa Gregoriana or reach Mount Guadagnolo, the highest mountain of the Prenestini Mountains, where is the Sanctuary of Mentorella, an ideal place also for climbers.

Look at the pictures for having some ideas of yours nice day trips from Gallicano and enjoy a different holyday in the Roma's countryside!
