Balestrate is a nice town near to Palermo and Trapani Airport in the middle of the spectacular Gulf of Sicily, less than an hour's drive from some of Sicily's premier tourist attractions.

The Sicily region

Sicily is the largest and most important island in the Mediterranean, it extends for 25,460sq km. The property is located in Baletrate less than 50m from the beach and offers stunning panoramic views of the Gulf of Sicily. Amenities and services in the local area include markets, pizzerias, restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, a range of shops and a tourist port.

Balestrate is a former fishing village with approximately 7.000 inhabitants and is situated only 40 km west of Palermo in the Gulf of Castellammare. Magnificent, kilometre-long beaches stretch west and east along the coast from the village. Behind the beach to the west of the village, there is a wood with Eucalyptus and Tamarisk. Balestrate offers everything you might need. Restaurants, bars, pubs, discotheque, supermarkets, bank machine, internet cafe. Monday is market day. To 20 minutes from the airport of Palermo, and Trapani and optimal position for cultural excursions artistic.

"Apartment is really marvelous, all is comfortable, perfect and clean; you find here everything, what you need.Owners are very kind and they were very warm and friendly all the time. Mostly donna Marie Christine was very pleasant, worried; she is charmer indeed! House is close to the long sandy beach and to the train station too. This was the most beautiful week in Sicily and I hope we return in Balestrate sometimes..."

Locates in the heart of this beautiful small town of Balestrate, which about half an hour drives from Palermo and a few steps to the beach. It not only provides us with convenience to travel around different towns in Sicily, but also a quiet and romantic environment. The wonderful owners gave us a very warm welcome as well as some useful information of the must visit signs and a few interesting places for good foods."

"Bei der Wohnung handelt es sich um eine schone 2 Zimmerwohnung mit einem sehr grobzugigen Schlafzimmer und einem groben Wohn/Essraum. Hinzu kommt eine Kuche, ein Badezimmer mit einer kleineren Dusche und Fenster, sowie ein groberer Flur. Die Kuche ist mit einer Kochgelegenheit mit 2 Herdplatten, einer neuen Mikrowelle und einem groberem Kuhlschrank so ausgestattet, dass man auch selber kochen kann. Wohn- und Schlafraum haben schone, hohe Gewolbedecke und einen hubschen Fliesenboden. Die Wohnung ist eingerichtet mit schonen, antiken Mobeln und durchweg bequemen Betten. Die Lage der Wohnung ist sehr zentrumsnah und ruhig. Vorhanden sind naturlich eine italienische Caffetiera (Kaffeemaschine) und ein Waschestander. Fur ein Paar oder eine Gruppe mit bis zu drei Personen ist die Wohnung durchaus zu empfehlen. Im Ort gibt es zwar einen Bahnhof aber die Bahnfahrt nach Palermo dauert doch recht lange und zur Erkundung der naheren Umgebung ist ein Auto unbedingt erforderlich. Mochte man nicht mit dem Auto nach Palermo fahren ist moglicherweise die Busverbindung etwas schneller als die Bahn."

It was clean, the owners we very nice and took great care at any time :) We rented a car, which made it easy to see great places in the West of Sicily the first week of our holiday; Segesta, Agrigento, Erice, Marettimo (island), Trapani, Zingaro Reserve Park and Castellamare del golfo (nice bars). We have particularly appreciated Marie Christine, Piero's mother, who is a very charming person with so kind attentions. All the persons we met in Balestrate were very pleasent and they have contributed to a very good journey. The apartment is very well situated (near the central place: 2min walk, and near the beach: 5min walk), well furnished and very pleasent with its two balconies. If needed (we had no car), the train station is very close. We warmly recommend this hiring and we would appreciate to come back in "Casa Arancione" in the future."

"What more can I say about staying in Balestrate, Sicily then to stay it was magical. You live in a 4 roomed apartment (suitable for number of people) with all the necessities required just walking distance to the beach. There is a sandy beach 5 minutes walk as well as a pebble beach 5 minutes walk also. A supermarket is 2 blocks away as well as a train station walking distance. It is away from the usual touristy places, but if you want a nice relaxing time to get away from it all, then this is the place. The owners are the nicest people and made you feel very welcome. they show you where everything is and treat you like you were one of your own. if you want a place thats only 30 minutes from Palermo but feels like a million miles away then i urge you to book here. i cant say enough about it."

"Ballestrate village is a really nice place, and the citizen are very friendly. The apartment is near everywhere, is very clean, good equippedment. At night is not very noisy. The owners are brillant, and worried about the state of everything in the apartment for your welfare."

"We were met by the owner's family who were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable. Balestrate is a nice town with plenty of amenities. The rocky beach is very close as it is just down a hill behind the accommodation and it never seemed too busy. It takes about a quarter of an hour walk to the sandy beach which is far more crowded. There is an excellent shellfish restaurant at one end of the town called Pulpo e Cozze. Two very minor quibbles. There was no washing machine and it could get a little noisy at night as there are 2 bars very close by. "
